We are going to MK May 29 and June 3. I booked my first set of FP last night and I wasn't able to get 7DMT. We were planning to do Tomorrowland and Adventureland on day 1 then Fantasyland and Frontierland day 2. On MK Day 2 we plan to do the evening parade and fireworks because we don't have anything planned the next day. What is the best strategy to ride 7DMT without a FP? What is the queue like? Is there anything interesting to look at that we won't mind waiting in line? Obviously I don't want to be there for an hour. Should we go straight to 7DMT on Day 2, then FP Peter Pan and Thunder Mountain for the afternoon?
I'm still planning to check every day but it seems like getting a FP for a party of 4 on 7DMT is going to be impossible. We don't mind splitting up so I may try to get one this way also.

Right now I have FP for Splash Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway and Jungle Cruise for Day 1. We plan to head straight to Space Mountain.

The queue has interactive games at a certain part, and some other interactive features as well. It's really well done! The line should be long though. My advice is to keep checking for that FP, as you may get lucky. If not, head there first thing one morning. Good luck!

Shortest lines will be at RD and last hour park is open. Check out Josh's MK cheat sheets at easywdw and you'll see average wait times by ride and time of day.

You can also try to get a FP for one of you. Once (if) you get that one, then start trying for the next in your party to have any time that overlaps. IE first person 10-11, next person 10:45-11:45, next person 10:30-11:30.. eventually you'll have a 5 minute window to get everyone in :-)

Hopefully you're not a party of 10!

OR, you could put up a craigslist ad: WILL BUY YOUR 7DMT FPs! <<JOKE

I just snagged a mine train FP for this coming Monday (May 4th)! So keep checking, you never know when/if one may pop up.

We waited around 30 minutes at RD. The line was long, but it was EMH and there were no FP's yet, so the line went quickly.

Book a pre-park opening breakfast at BOG. It doesn't matter what time as long as it's pre-opening. They let everyone with a rez in the park at the same time. Pre-order your food. Relax, eat breakfast, enjoy the dining room. Then at 8:50 walk out of BOG and stand in a short line for maybe 5 minutes and you'll be on the train.

Two minutes and 30 seconds later you'll be wondering what the big deal is with 7DMT.

(That's what happened to us ;))

We rode at rope drop and came to the same conclusion ;) Cute but never again without a FP.

I would check again, if I'm understanding your post correctly. I'm seeing FP+ available on June 3.

Thanks everyone I will keep checking! We are staying off property so I can't book until 30 days out.

I'm sure this is not a regular feature of the line, but my 10yo son got to talk to a cool 10yo French Canadian girl in the line for about an hour. He even got to ride with her since we were both odd numbered groups. His jaw nearly hit the floor when she switched to speaking French half way through the line. I told him not to hold his breath the next time we go...BEST RIDE EVER, he says.

So waiting in line is not always bad.

Are you saying BOG isn't really adhering to their reservation times? I have a 8am. Will people with later times be let in at 8am?

I know this is a ridiculous question, but... Has anyone ever been able to get 7DMT as a 4th (in-park/kiosk) FP+ for just one person? I got to ride 3 times last week (with FP+, 2 prebooked and one freebie after being evacuated from Winnie the Pooh), and totally loved it (Yes, I'm a coaster wimp).

Also, in the standby - at what point do they split up the lines by odd vs even numbered parties? My experience in the FP+ line was there always seemed to be WAY more even than odd numbered parties. Once I got to the split as a party of 1, it was practically a de facto single rider line.

I've been offered 7DMT many times as a 4th (or later) FPP while in the MK, evidently as others change their plans. Usually we're a party of 2 but sometimes 1 and seen it for both. The problem is that it's usually for late evening (so while choosing a 4th at 2pm I'll get offered it for 10:30-11:30pm).

I just booked a 7DMT for 3 people on May 29th. Granted it was late evening so that probably wouldn't work with your schedule but I'm guessing once June 3 opens that you'll have luck if you will be there that evening and are willing to use your FPP that late. Also, keep checking. I booked for this Saturday (May 2) for 4 people right at midnight at 30 days and all I could get was 8:45pm. I checked regularly for the last 3 weeks with no success. Then on Monday morning suddenly I got a 8:30am so switched it. We're local (but have a lot of people who visit that we're trying to grab them to ride with) and I don't think I've even not gotten what I wanted by just checking once or twice a day for one to open up.

keep trying for fast pass but instead of searching for group look for them separately when everyone has a spot in 7DMT work on getting them near same time so that they each overlap
a lot more chances that way

The line is split into odd vs even when FP meets the standby line.

For riding without FP...

Unless you're near the front of the pack at rope drop and a quick walker, then I'd wait to ride at night.

At night the ride is 100% better. The wait times late at night are also normally exaggerated. We've gotten in line around 10 or 11pm where it was a posted 60 minute wait and we were in the car within 30 minutes.

If the line is not extended outside the entrance post, then it's not too bad of a wait. I'd say a line right about the entrance is an hour wait. However the line moves pretty quick, when people want to continue walking past the interactive game.

As far as the interactive que, it's alright. Nothing amazing where I'd want to stand there and play with it. Something about all those dirty hands all over the glass swiping little jewel pieces just doesn't appeal to me lol. Thinking of all the little kids that have had their hands in their mouth and adults with food on their hands or who knows where, all swiping on the screen...

Ride at night though. Shorter lines and we prefer the way it looks at night and it also feels like it goes faster

HA! We thought the exact same thing after showing up at the ropes at 8a to be sure we made the first wave to 7DMT, then dealing with the crazy hoards pushing and shoving their way there once the rope dropped. It's a great ride and all but I think it's a bit of mob mentality that draws so many folks to it.

Just out of curiosity, were there no FPs at all for 7DMT or none available for times that worked for you? When I booked our FPs 30 days out for our April trip they had some available but not until later in the evening.
