7DmkII or 70D?

Are you aware of Greentoe.com ? You make an offer, and see if it will be accepted. All products come from authorized dealers. Here is a thread about them on POTN http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1294479

And I discovered a great website to explain the features and settings of the 7D MkII https://photographylife.com/recommended-canon-7d-mark-ii-settings

BTW, I am seriously considering putting in an offer on a 7D MkII :)

I have used greentoe, and I can mostly vouch for it. I indeed got an official USA version of the Nikon D750 for about $200 less than anybody else was selling it for, at that time. Yes, the warranty was valid -- I've had the camera serviced.
I've also saved a couple of dollars on a couple of lenses -- not huge savings, but still cheaper than anyplace else I could find.
I did have 1 issue where they contacted, they said they had a seller that would sell me the lens I wanted, at the right price, but that it would take them a week to get it into stock. After waiting nearly 3 weeks, I had to have them cancel the order and refund my money.

I went to the shop today to see what I wanted to with my backup issue - go for an EOS M and use my 60D as a main or use the 60D as a backup and get a 70D or 7D instead as a main.

I picked up an EOS M with an M-EF adapter for 150€. I think that's a pretty good value. I am happy with the 60D and the M will serve me fine for everyday use. Plus I can use my existing lenses with the adapter. The missing viewfinder wasn't as much an issue as I thought it would be, especially since my Sigma still produces a burst rate of a little over 4fps in raw.

If I'd had the extra 600€ to go for the 70D/7D, I'd have gone for it but for the meantime my 60D will be just fine with the M as backup :)

I used the M at a family event this weekend. Also brought the DSLR because I was shooting Jetski action with the 100-400 but the M is fine for slower stuff and indoors and the 22mm STM pancake lens makes it a good carry around pocket camera. Try using the M with the light and small 50mm 1.8 MKII

I love to shoot architecture so I think the M will be pretty awesome with my 10-18 attached as an everyday camera. I'll try it out with both the 30 and 50 this weekend at the family BBQ. Th combo with the 50 indeed sounds pretty small and light - I just don't quite like 50 because I find it not quite wide for my liking (I LOVE to shoot wide!) Maybe if I really want a small and light lens, I'll look at the 22 when a deal comes around.

I think I am going to like this one :)

Highly recommend canonpricewatch.com. I have used them with there "street price" for my 6d , 24-70IS f4 and 16-35IS f4. Saved hundreds

I have a T1i; and want to upgrade before we go to Disney. I'm not a professional I use my camera for personsal use. All my lenses are EF-s mount except my 50 mm. I have the 18-55mm Kit & 18-250mm.

These are the cameras I'm considering:
  • 70d
  • 7d mark II
  • 6d
With the two crop sensors I wouldn't need to purchase any lenses. With the 6d I would need an EF lens. In addition to a new body I do want 24-105L. Thoughts?

What kind of shooting do you like to do? Action? Low light? Wildlife?

Do consider how much zoom is important to you. If you go with the 6D would you then need a longer zoom? That 105 is really the equivalent of about 65 on a crop sensor.

I went though this decision making process and got the 6D last year. I have not second guessed that for a moment. I've been very happy with it. To me, it's worth it to have the great low light performance. Others might miss the reach.

Would you be keeping the T1i as a backup you could use when you want more reach?

At first I considered selling the T1i but considering how old it is I doubt it's worth much so I think I'm going to keep it.

My daughter is in dance so I take photos of her recital (low light & action), my husband is a farmer and is always wanting pictures of him farming. And then just everyday shots of the kids, vacation memories, birthday parties, etc.

If I wend with the 6d what would be a good lens with a little more reach but not break the bank?

The Tamron 70-300 is very good and affordable. It's not pro quality, and it's definitely not meant for low light. But performs well in outdoor telephoto needs. The Canon 70-200/4 is a bit better for indoor lower light needs.

I'm so on the fence....I know anything will be a huge upgrade from the t1i. I know glass is more important than the body; but the only glass I have compatible with FF is 50mm.

When does canon usually release new models? Will the price of any of these cameras go down? What is the chance I find one if these on special black Friday?

Not sure when new models are due, but for the best deals, subscribe to Canonpricewatch referenced in post 89 above.

The full frame 6D might be better for your needs, look at refurbished, some of the 6D refurbished deals have been $1,099 which includes the one year warranty

Yes if I go with 6d I've been looking at refurbished & a used lens as well.

Just be aware that once you jump to FF, nice glass gets expensive in a hurry. Been there. Done that.

The good news is that it retains value very well. The bad news is there's a pain threshold while you buy what you need.

True; I'm leaning towards the 7D Mk II probably going to go refurb. Hoping to pick up a used 24-105L. From now on I guess when I buy a lens I need to make sure its an EF mount so when I make the switch to FF i know it will work. I think with a 7d mk ii it will be a significant upgrade from the t1i and with an L lens I hope I am happy.

There is simply no comparison between the T1i and the 7D Mk II. I never owned a T1i but I've owned about every Rebel since in my climb towards what I have now and I can tell you unequivocally that none of them compare to my 7D Mk II (I now have a 7D MKII, a 6D and a 5D MkIII).

There's a learning curve, not going to lie to you, but once you get past it, you will be astounded.
