Okay, playing around with money and dates for possible next Disney trip. Probably going in Nov or Dec. (not during holidays) for 6 nights and will have $700 to spend on resort stay (on or off property). Given these perameters, which resort(s) would you spend the money at and why? Would you split your stay? I have thought of so many different options that I am tired of thinking about it and just want to see how others would spend it.

Well, staying on-site can be pricey, but I'd do it anyway. Even if you end up at the All Stars or Pop Century. ANY on-site is better than none.;)

On-site at one of the vaule resorts

Using a code (mousesavers.com) I think onsite at a moderate resort would be nice! Using a code we paid $94 a night (off season) for POFQ. That price included tax.
Enjoy your trip!

Off-site at OLCC or Sheraton Vistana off of Sky-auction! (If there are more than a couple of you!)

Depends on how many people are going. Personally, there is no way I would want to spend more than one night in a tiny hotel room with two double beds if it was more than just me and my dh. We are spending $720 on ten nights off-site in a suite with a seperate bedroom with two queen beds, a living room and kitchenette, and free continental breakfast.

Determining factors for me would be would I have a car and how many in party.

With a car available, and 4 or more in party, I would definitely stay offsite in a condo or 2 br hotel suite.

Okay, planning right now for 2 people total and will have our own vehicle. Otherwise, possibility that I may be going solo which means I will fly and will need to stay on property or DTD as I would not be renting a car at that time.

I would do onsite if I don't have a car. If I have a car, I may look into a bigger offsite hotel that has more to offer than just the regular hotel room.

If I want just pure total Disney Magic 100% of my vacation, then onsite only.

Single, without car IMHO onsite is by far the better option.

For two, witha car, I'd give some serious consideration to using something like http://www.hotwire.com . At the moment you can pick up a 3* hotel for $73 a night (Nov/Dec) , but with a little luck and patience you might get a 4*for that price nearer the time. Hotels in Orlando are in a very competative business and for less busy times they will cut prices dramatically in order to get their occupancy rates up. Companies like Hotwire and Priceline, where the hotels are offering "blind rates" (i.e. you don't know the hotel until after you commit to the booking) can extract some great rates for the purchasers

Why not stay at one of the DTD resorts? We stayed at the Hilton last year and LOVED it.. We got it for $61 per night on priceline!

Go on over to the DVC rent trade board here on the DIS and rent an OKW studio for 6 nights. That would be $600 and deluxe accommodations.

Absolutely stay on-site. For that time-frame you should be able to get some good rates.
