70 degrees - light jacket weather?

I'll be at WDW starting Sunday with predicted weather of 70 degrees-ish at night, is this chilly enough for a light windbreaker type jacket after the sun goes down? At Disneyland in the summer I always grabbed a light jacket because the air would really cool down at night being close to the ocean but what about WDW?

What do you do in similar temps at home? Personally, it wouldn't occur to me to even bring a jacket to Disney this time of year but I am know others would. Even if it is mild outside, the a/c in the stores & restaurants can make them chilly.

I think it depends on the individual and to some degree what part of the country you are from. I have lived in the south for the last 25 years so for me that would be jacket weather. My family that is still up north would not need a jacket. Orlando does not have the breeze you get near the Ocean so factor that in.

70's is WARM. That's shorts and short sleeve shirt weather for us. I have only worn a windbreaker (with shorts) on one trip and that was 2008 when the temps at night were down in the 40's. On that trip daytime temps were in the 60's and 70's and didn't wear a jacket at all during the day.

If it's in the 70's at night, then it's probably going to be somewhat humid too.

You can always tells the locals in FL when the temps are below 80. They're the ones in long pants and wearing coats.

Not IMO, but I am from the northeast and we think 50 degrees is warm.

We were there in February and all of us took our fleece jackets. They are (IMHO) the perfect weight for cooler nights at WDW. My DD and I shivered in many of the Air Conditioned Attractions and on the boats, so we used ours frequently.

It was in the mid 80's during the day (I think), but I ended up carrying my fleece either around my waist or in the stroller. DH, who seldom ever gets cold, even appreciated the fleece on the boats. Plus, they are nice and cushiony for sitting on curbs for parades!

50 degrees is much warmer in the north than in Florida. The air is much colder.

I would say if you're looking at 70 degrees as a night time temperature, you would not need a jacket. If you see a high of 70, you would probably need one for most of the day. I live in Ohio and don't wear a jacket if it's over 50, but Florida is a different story.

I see the OP is from AZ, so you may be chilly. I'm from OH...I wear shorts until the 50's...we're a lot more cold tolerant, but if you're not used to it, take a light jacket and if you don't need it, tie it around your waist. I'd hate for you to get chilly. With the masses of people, it may not happen, but ya never know.

Well I'm from Louisiana and we are coming Saturday and are only bringing one pair of pants and maybe a light jacket. Bit for the low temp of 70no jacket will be. Needed. It will actually feel good. Especially for touring.

These are MY guidelines:

70º can wear pants or shorts, short sleeves
60º pants with long sleeves
50º add a jacket


The breeze in CA makes a big difference. It isn't like that in Orlando. I wouldn't even bring pants or a jacket with weather that warm. Of course, we are from IN so that varies on what you think is cold.

The 70 degrees at Disney World is humid and the parks will keep the heat. Think of big cities - even though the air is supposed to be 70, the buildings and streets keep the daytime heat and heat the air a couple degrees higher. This time of year, it is typically shorts and t-shirt weather. BUT I always bring a light jacket to Disney during the evenings because the INSIDE attractions make me cold. Wear a jacket that you can tie around your waist so you don't have to carry it (so a hoodie).

Make it the same jacket you wear on the plane and you don't have to pack it!

When weather is too warm for a jacket but too cool for short sleeves we take along long sleeve light weight t-shirts. We can tie them around our waists if we don't want to wear them but can put them on over a t-shirt if we are sitting and cool. They are usually better than a jacket because they are lighter weight.

I won't hurt to bring it. But you will only need it if you're the type to get cold in the a/c. I honestly think you'll have a good chuckle once you get there and think you considered wearing a jacket, unless they have an unseasonable front come through.

The humidity of Florida is vastly different from what you find in CA.

70 degree is iffy weather for me. I'd bring a jacket. Plus, after the May Monsoon of '09 when we FROZE, it was really nice to have one.

If it really stayss 70 degrees or more then you don't need a jacket. Often, though, the weatherman says 70 degrees this evening but while the evening is still young the temps dip to the low 60's.

Sorry, but I kind of have to take issue with that. 50 degrees is 50 degrees no matter where you are. Humidity may affect how it feels to you as does the wind, but it is still the same temperature.

Right now my A/C is set at 70 degrees. Does that mean that I should be wearing a coat?

I have lived in North Carolina for two and a half weeks now. The temperature has ranged from 48 degrees to 87 degrees. I feel like a child because I have been wearing shorts and t-shirt everyday. Good thing that I have awesome looking legs, I think. It's all a matter of how your body reacts to temperatures.

I think that the less the humidity the cooler it feels, but I've never know Florida to be lacking in humidity. The poster that said, "how do you deal with it at home" may be on the right track. If you need a jacket at home, you may well need one at Disney.
