Here is the set up. This was our 3rd Disney cruise and 8th cruise overall. Cast members include, Me. DH, DD 13, DD 10, identical twin boys 8, and Dear Brother-in-law. While on board the west coast Mexico cruise In June of 2008 we re-booked for Sept 26th 2009 . Booked connecting category 6 cabins...6620 and 6622. This was our first time of having a verandah. After reading all the reviews about the trouble with smoking I was really worried, but thankfully both cabins on either side did not smoke. This was our first time of doing the Eastern itinerary..we have done the western and the west coast. Stops for this cruise included St. Marteen, St. Thomas and of course Castaway Cay..along with 4 full sea days which is personally why we booked... We love sea days.

We literally were in the middle of planing our Disney Cruise trying to find a hotel big enough for the 7 of us for pre cruise, when we got a phone call from Hilton Grand Vacations Club [HGVC] offering us a free stay in Las Vegas. At first I said "No thank you." And explained to them that we were already going on vacation and didn't have the time or dollars for another one. So they asked what days we would be in Orlando and then said if they could get us a two bedroom suite for 3 full nights for basically free, as long as we agreed to go on a time share tour, would we be interested. I thought about it for less then a second and said "Yes!!!."

After flying cross country from Northern Ca, to Orlando for 7 hours, then spending another hour waiting for our rental car we could have slept on the concrete for all we cared, but thankfully Hilton had other ideas. The suite was AWESOME. A full sized, fully stocked kitchen...beyond the kitchen was a dinning/living room, which was very large. with a dinning room table that could seat 6, and the living room had a desk/chair, large sofa, 2 overstuffed chairs/ottomans. Directly off of the living room was the fully screened in lanai with a patio set that could seat 4, ceiling fan and light. The lanai was also accessible from the mater bedroom as well. Off to the left of the kitchen was a hallway with a stackable washer and dryer..which came in handy several times. The second bedroom with a full walk in closet, 2 queen beds, a very large dresser, and large flat screen tv. across from the laundry area was a full bathroom, with a tub/'shower combo and your standard toilet, sink etc... across from the bathroom was the master bedroom. As you opened the door you were greeted with a MASSIVE Jacuzzi tub that could have easily have held 4 adults, or several children. There was a super comfy king size bed, with two night stands a chair, a smaller walk in closet with an in room safe. There was also the bathroom with an amazing walk in rain shower. The shower was also MASSIVELY large and could have held 4 or 5 adults.

As you can guess we were VERY tired from all the traveling and did not feel like going out to get something to eat. We found a pizza hut magnet on the refrigerator, and found out they were onsite and would deliver to your room. So hubby called and ordered pizza while myself and brother in law went across the street to Publix grocery store to pick up some basic supplies. When we returned, hubby had taken all the kids swimming and to see the outdoor/pool side movie. Two days a week they show family movies on a huge blow up screen in the pool area. The pool area is very large with the pool its self looking like the Olympic rings with a gorgeous waterfall that resembles the Olympic cauldron. After swimming and pizza we all fell into bed. The next morning came VERY early for hubby and I. We had agreed to go on the tour and they had reserved our time to be 8:15 AM...which for us is 5:00AM. We went on a non stressful tour, watched the informational video and was asked several times if we were interested in purchasing. After the 1 1/2 hour tour we went back to the room and met up with the rest of the family. We found out from the front desk that the property backs up to the huge Orlando Factory Outlet Stores, and we simply had to walk across this wooden bridge to the back gate, use our room key and walk across the street to the outlets. Our wallets wish they would have never told us this "secret."

The final morning came quickly after packing up our rental van we started heading down 528 [?] to Port Canaveral.

Will post more soon...

Since this was our third Disney cruise we were not in a big hurry to get to the port. So we stopped for breakfast, and to pick up some Dr. Pepper and headed out. We arrived at the port around 12:30. DH dropped all of us and our luggage off with a porter and drove to take the rental van back to Budget. The poor porter seemed a little worried about the amount of luggage we had, but then we told him we had connecting cabins and he de-stressed. He helped us put all the luggage tags on...which, yes I had forgotten to. Then directed us down to the security check in team. After they verified that we were on this cruise they pointed us to the terminal. We went through the security X-ray machine, then up the escalator to the very cute, older couple giant Mickey hand greeters. Who asked if we had checked in online, when I said yes, she said "Castaway Members", I said "Of course" She LOL and directed us to line 15. Which had zero people waiting. I honestly felt bad sense the other non castaway members line was HUGE. But regardless checked everyone in, including DH, signed the new "we are not sick with swine flu" paper work, got all of our KTTW cards, and lanyards. Went to sit with the rest of the family to wait for DH.

Seems Budget was a little further then DH thought and there was only 1 lady working the whole counter, so it took DH almost 1 hour to return the van and get a shuttle back. But no worries, off to get our lanyard photos taken, then through the big ears, got our coming on board photo taken, walked up the gangway, and then THE magical moment...LADIES AND GENTLEMAN THE DISNEY MAGIC WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME BACK THE BRYANT FAMILY. Gosh it gets me every time, it really does. Since it was already past 1:30 we went straight to our cabins..6620 & 6622. This was the first time we had sprung for verandahs...it was so worth it. And we are now officially spoiled and can't imagine not sailing with a verandah. In fact we rebooked on board for next Nov and got connecting verandahs again, but this on the exact opposite side.. 6120 & 6122.

As we were unpacking our room host arrived and introduced himself, Albert, and told us if we needed anything to please let him know. He saw that we were in the two cabins and instantly brought us the plastic sticks to keep the doors open when we wanted them to be. We unpacked and headed down to Rocking D Bar to request our favorite servers [Leo & Cindy] and to change our early seating to late. Both were handled quickly and we were on our way to goofy's galley. One of the things we really enjoy is knowing the ship so well...it doesn't' take us 2 or so days to get our bearings..we know instantly were everything is. It may sound corny, but its like coming home. After goofy's we went to the kids club to discuss our boys special needs with them, which went REALLY well this time. Then back to our cabin to rest before the drill.

After the drill we went to met up with our fellow dis'ers but soon realized that I had not packed my dis'er list..so I forgot where it was..so we missed it..which sadly would become the theme during the week. We missed the dis'ers cabin tour, and the dis'ers pj breakfast. We didn't do the dis'er alcohol tasting tour, but we had already told them we wouldn't be there since we don't drink any alcohol. But we did do the printed name tags, the dis'er custom made rubber bracelet exchange, the FE extender gifts and the Secret Mickey exchange. So we had a great time. Ok, back to the report. We decided to skip the sail away party and just sit on our verandah and say goodbye to everyone as we sailed out...it was very sweet, quiet and relaxing, and most importantly we could still here the horn...what a great way to start your vacation.

Some Thoughts: On our past two Disney cruises ALL of our kids HATED the clubs, so we didn't hold out much hope this time. But we did decide to give all of them full check in/out privileges. Showed them how to use the cabin phone to leave us a message as to where the would be. It was so much easier this time around. And much more stress free for everyone..including me. So with no pressure our boys hardly ever left the club, or the pool, and our 10 year old we bumped up to the next level..Ocean Quest and she LOVED it. Our 13 year old was VERY upset about the new stack rules so she didn't go to any club, but she still had a good time non the less. All of us promised our selves that we would do things that we had never made time for before. So here are some of the first that we did. We all went to several movies in the Buena Vista Theater, Went to Pirate Deck Party, Saw the Fireworks, went to every evening show in the Walt Disney Theater, went to several of the family shows in Diversions, and participated in a few of the "games" on board. For instance one day there was a game in the main lobby called "Chipped In", which was a Velcro version of mini golf..it was so much fun.

Well, I need to get dinner going...will post more tonight..

Could you please explain the new rules for the stack? Thanks!!

Not really new "rules", its new ages. Used to be 13-18, now it is 14-17, and once you turn 18 you are no longer allowed in. They didn't come right out and say anything, but you get the jist that it is due to minor vrs adult. I am fine with the new ages, but DD was really looking forward to it since this was our 3rd Disney cruise and she was officially a teenager now. They also changed Ocean Quest to be 11-14 now. But our 10 year old was able to be bumped up due to her maturity and her birthday being in a few months. Hope this helps. :goodvibes

While relaxing on our verandah, all of our luggage arrived and we unpacked. We then changed clothes and went to see the Welcome Aboard show in the Walt Disney Theater. In all honesty it is not one of my favorites, but it is a nice show. We got to see the Wonders new cruise director that Brent was training. His name was Clayton [?] and he was very nice, he is from America. His "thing" is teaching everyone how to do the "I'm on vacation" dance set to an old Tom Jones tune. So he told everyone each time you pass him on the ship to break out into a giant cheesy grin, and do the dance. It was cute and you saw folks all week busting out into random dancing. :dance3:

After the show we went up to deck 9 to just sit and watch the sunset. After about 1 hour it was time for dinner..We had LAP rotation. Now most of you are gonna think I am very weird, but my favorite restaurant is Parrot Cay. I enjoy the bright/cherry decor, the more relaxed island theme. But Lumeries is also very nice coming in a close second..with Animators Palate coming in last for me. I really don't remember what we had which will be the case for most of the dinners. The quality is very, very poor to me. It has gone downhill each and every cruise. In fact not only DH, but our assistant server commented on all the food waste in the dinning rooms lately. We rarely saw an empty plate. And we are not food snobs in any sense of the word. I mean we go to most typical chain restaurants, and enjoy ourselves just fine. And I realize that food is an extremely individual taste issue, which is why you may totally disagree with me, and that's cool. After dinner we really were very tired, not only from the long day, but we were still not used to the time change and were all off on our sleep schedule. So we head back "home" to a totally clean cabin with your nightly turn down service, and our towel was made into an alligator, with his eyes made out of the pillow chocolates. He was very cute. Our boys went to the kids club and our 10 year old went to quest for a few hours and our 13 year old went to the late movie in the Buena Vista Theater. They all got back around 11:30 and we all fell asleep in seconds.

Sunday morning arrived with the sun shinning and the humidity off the charts. I never knew it could be so humid. In Northern Ca we have HOT summers..well over 100 and 115 isn't rare, but we have very low/little humidity. After we dressed, everyone headed to Topsiders for breakfast. I am not a big breakfast eater so I really enjoy just being able to get a bagel and some fresh fruit. Now DH and both Sons and D Brother-in-law are BIG breakfast eaters..and got more then their monies worth each and every day. After breakfast everyone just went on their own. DH and I decided to start on our FE gifts. We had about 50 cabins, so got our list and our gifts and set out to deliver. Now normally when your walking somewhere on the ship you think.."oh that's not to far", but when you are delivering from extreme aft, to extreme forward on BOTH port and starboard sides you can get more then your daily walking quota in. So after delivering to 3 decks we called a time out, and decided to go see the movie UP. It was really a very good movie...and YES I :sad1: cried several times. After the movie we headed up to deck 9 for some quick lunch. I got some fresh fruit from goofy's galley and then went to the condiment bar at Pluto's dog house and got some fresh veggies, and the giant green olives. DH got some pizza and some frys. We took our lunch back to our cabin and sat on our verandah to watch the world go by.

After lunch we decided to continue delivering our FE gifts. After getting all of our first round delivered we went up to deck 4 and picked up the brochure of the future cruises. We already knew we were re-book on board and wanted time to pick what we really wanted. We :lovestruc LOVE the padded arm chairs next to the cruise booking desk. So we sat there and poured over the cruise list and just people watched. After a while we went to check on the kids. Seems all of them were in the pool having a grand time swimming and enjoying an endless supply of chicken strips and french fry's and soda. After checking on the kids DH decided to go do some shopping for pirate night and I went back to the cabin for a nap. I have Fibromyalgia really bad and with 5 days of running to and fro I was done. I woke up a few hours later and found DH sitting on the verandah sipping some coffee, and just totally relaxed. As I said before we have never had the money for a verandah before, so this was a treat, and DH can't imagine not ever having one in the future.

After sitting with DH for a while D Brother-in-law came in and asked if we were going to the evening show. So we all went to the theater together. This evening was a family comedian/juggler/magician guy he was ok, but later in the week they would bring another gentleman on who was much better. After the show we went to diversions for the family show. After the show we headed to Animators Palate for dinner, it was formal night. We don't dress to the nines, but DH and Brother in law had on nice slacks, shirt and tie with jackets. Our kids decided to do their own thing for dinner and would met us back in the cabin later in the evening. Formal night is my least favorite menu, but hubby and dbinlaw enjoyed the beef. After dinner I was still really tired, so I excused my self and turned in early. Hubby and brother in law went to the adult show in Rocking Bar D and I believe to the late movie in the theater. We had an elephant made out of towels and TONS of extra chocolates..seems our kids had mentioned how much they love the chocolates to our stateroom host so he LOADED them up.

Monday to follow...

Our 13 year old was VERY upset about the new stack rules so she didn't go to any club, but she still had a good time non the less.

Well, I need to get dinner going...will post more tonight..

EEEK. What "new" Stack rules? DD(13) was allowed to go in the Stack (with my one-time written permission) in June and I intend to head her that way in November. Please elaborate.

BTW - totally agree on the food thing. And we ARE food snobs, but, regardless, the food stinks. IMO.
