We just returned home from 7 nights in a dedicated one bedroom at VWL (in fact, jimmytammy is in the room right now!!). The room was beautiful and very clean. No maintenance problems that we could find. We even used the jacuzzi tub and did not preclean it before using it. Check in was fast. Our room was ready when we arrived and we had some very nice Bell Service guys to help us with our bags into the room and again out of the room when we left. I was surprised that the balcony was off the master bedroom and not the living room. This was the first time we have had a room with this orientation. We usually have the master bedroom on the right.

1. Parks were busy. We saw waits for 110 and 120 minutes. Even Small World had a wait time of 40 minutes one day. Now that is crowded.

2. The dining plan is nice, but it is waaaaay too much food. We got our money's worth and still didn't use 3 Counter Service meals. Eating both a counter service meal and a table service meal is just too much.

3. We had some extra nice servers for our meals. Two great ones at the Concourse Steakhouse (Xia for dinner and Lori for breakfast). Also Katherine at Yacht Club Galley Thanksgiving dinner.

4. We met some very nice people, some DVC, some not. Billy (he's four) and his family from Connecticut were at the villas and then moved over to Ft Wilderness Cabins. Our tablemates from Texas at Teppanyaki were on their first trip to Disney and they had planned it up right. They had the Family Suites at All Stars and all their ADRs planned. They were having a great time. And the family from California at WL who were showing their teen daughter WDW for the first time. We ran into them again at Cosmic Ray's and gave them a couple of extra Fast Passes that we had gotten at Buzz Lightyear (CM gave us 10 total on our first day for the three of us, so we shared.) We even saw two families from our home town there. One we knew was going to be there, but the other we didn't. It was a big surprise to both of us to see each other at Boma.

5. Miniature golfing at Winter-Summerland is great fun when there is a nip to the air. And when you play both courses. DVC gives a 15% discount, but AP gives you 50% discount. Somehow, I was the big winner for both rounds of golf.

6. Typhoon Lagoon is great even when it is only 60 degrees outside. We went twice, once on Sunday before Thanksgiving and once on Friday after Thanksgiving. About 5 hours each day. I nearly finished my book in those two days.

7. Illuminations for the holidays is great. It made me wish for peace in the Middle East (and other parts of the world). And I love the Lights of Winter.

8. Cosmic Commander isn't quite Gallactic Hero, but I'll take it. And it beats Space Ace.

9. Get fast passes early for Soarin' and Expedition Everest. They both were gone early. And the lines got long early. My husband and son did EE twice on both days we went to AK. We only did Soarin' once, but it was fun.

10. Everyone should do the Hall of Presidents every now and then. Makes you glad to be an American. Met a man who retired from the company I worked at 25 years ago. He told me about all the changes there.

It was great staying at the VWL and we'd do it again in a heartbeat. Now we just have to save up the points again since we used two years worth of points on our VWL contract (it's only 100 points).

What a nice report! Sounds like you had a wonderful time! I can't wait for our 5 nights at VWL in January!!!

We at at Cape May for Thanksgiving Dinner. We walked past the YC Galley on our way over to catch the boat to MGM to see the lights. We probably crossed paths. Glad to hear you had as good a time as we did.

I agree with you.....we love VWL also. As a matter of fact, our three kids (2 adults and an "almost" adult at 17) don't like to stay anywhere else, so, when all of us travel to WDW together that's where we usually stay. We have 150 VWL points so that makes it a little easier, however, sometimes I have to book a portion of the trip at 11 months and the rest at 7 months with our SSR points. I'm also looking forward to VAKL since I think I'll enjoy it there almost as much as VWL (we like Boma better than Whispering Canyon). Can't wait to go "home" in mid January!!

Thank you for the great report. That sounded really crowded. Yuck. WL for us soon, we leave Sat :cool1: .

Sounds like a wonderful trip. I love the VWL, and it is especially beautiful at the holidays. Thanks for sharing!

It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I enjoyed reading your post. It was nice of you to share the FPs.

Bobbi :)

Thanks for sharing your experiences and comments. Sounds like the trip went very well. :thumbsup2

And you bring up something that I think is a hidden jewel...the Hall of Presidents. I agree completely with your assessment. I just wish I could get my family interested in visiting it more often.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip. And it sounds like you need a VWL add-on! :)

:thumbsup2

Thanks for leaving it in such great shape! We were hoping to get to see yall. Glad to hear you had a good trip.

thanks for the great report, I live through them until I can get back. Ooh, I think I would love having the balcony off of the master bedroom, sounds gorgeous. Thanks for the tip on the miniature golf. It's one of those things my family and I always want to try but just never seem to get around to.

Thanks for the great trip report! It has rekindled my enthusiasm for our first stay at VWL in February.

Thank you for sharing your trip report! Our 10th anniv. trip at VWL was one of the many reasons we decided to buy into DVC; it is truly a unique and beautiful resort. Glad you had fun!!

Thanks for sharing. I can't wait for our trip in Feb at VWL. We stayed at OKW and SSR last time (last minute booking took what was available) and while they were nice, I LOVE VWL and really felt like the trip wasn't the same staying somewhere else.

We are taking my mom, sister and brother with us in Feb. (their first trip to DW) and I can't wait for them to experience it. :cool1:

Deb,

Thank you so much for the trip report. We are BWV owners who are thinking about a future stay at VWL next year. Did you rent a car? Did you feel like you needed to rent a car while staying there? How did you like the transportation service to the parks?

It sounds like you had a wonderful time and really enjoyed your stay there!

We always drive from home, so we have a car to use. We always took the boat to the MK. We took a bus to AK once for morning EMH, but drove all the other times to the other parks.

There have been times when we almost only used the buses. It seems like when we stay at OKW, we wind up using the buses a lot. Whenever we go to a water park we always drive since we wind up bringing beach towels, water shoes, books, refillable mug for the water parks, extra clothes. And it works out easier to drive to the miniature golf places for us, too.

We had a wonderful time on this trip. I think it was about the best one ever. We didn't let anything bring us down on this trip - course, we didn't go to parades and we got to Illuminations early (we watched from the bridge between France and Great Britain).

We leave in 12 hours!! WooooHooooo

Great report... Isn't it just cool to see the newbies enjoying Disney for the first time? Glad everything went well, including your dominating golf experience (you're a golf shark, aren't you?)
