7 nights, 6 full days...too much???

We loved being there that long. Took our time, was able to revisit things we loved...which was everything! Had swim time and even a trip to the outlet malls and ikea. We also got to ride ET over and over and over again (my then five year old LOVED it).

This was our first trip, we typically do 7-10 days at Disney. We wouldn't change it in the future. I like being able to unpack and really spend time at the parks and resorts.

Have fun!

Is there some sort of competition amongst the Disney crowd to come here and bash Universal, LOL!? At least *attempt* to hide your bias. :rotfl:

Anyway, when we did a six-night stay at Portofino Bay, I could have easily stayed at least a few more nights. It's funny - as a few other posters have indicated as well, I *thought* we'd have plenty of time to just relax, explore the hotel and its amenities, etc.... but we ended up finding so many things to do that we never did even hit the pool!

Uni does a simply amazing job of creating a totally immersive environment where you really are in another world. It's lovely. So, if you do find some down time, you can definitely enjoy exploring the property and just relaxing... but don't count on being bored!! :)

As another poster mentioned, there's something magical about having the Unlimited Express Pass and not having to "hurry up and wait."

Have a wonderful time!!!!

I'm glad this thread came up. Between this thread and all the new restaurants available since my last visit that I want to try - I checked out what it would take to bump my April trip from 5 nights to 7 nights.

With the Stay More Save More rates (for one room - the other room was cheaper with the APH rate) I got 2 extra nights in 2 PBH rooms (2 Queen Deluxe w/Club & Deluxe King) for a total of $349.00. That's only $87.25 per room/per night for those extra 2 days. That's a no-brainer - especially since there's no extra charge for park tickets.

Awesome!! You won't regret it. :thumbsup2

We were at Universal for 5 nights last year and i could have easily done a week.

We had early entry and front of the line passes and they were awesome. We actually went through some of the queues as they are amazing.

We were able to take in shows, eat a at leisurely pace and stroll all the amazing shops.

We took in a Blue Man group show one night and another night stayed for Universals evening show. City walk is a lot of fun and there is a movie theater and Mini Golf as well. Just strolling through Citywalk at night is fun!

We rode everything at least twice. (I rode Forbidden Journey no less then 6 times)

The best part of being on site as you really don't need to wait for Transportation to get around. You can easily walk everywhere!

Late to the thread, but if it matters to the OP, I am with so many like the quote above. We did 4-days in 2012 and it wasn't enough. Our 7-day trip allowed us to do 4-day tix to the parks and pool hop and eat out at CityWalk the other days.

No pressure, just soaking up the Florida vibes. That is a different vacation style than WDW commando (and I like both BTW).

yikes! yes i feel 6 full days in US/IOA is entirely too much.

the max i would do is 3 full days with a park to park ticket.

honestly i've found that it really only takes 2 full days one at each park to take it all in.

my most recent visit was in july 2014 and i've become less and less impressed over the years.
i got a 1 day park to park ticket and i was only there until mid afternoon.

i probably won't be going back for a while cuz i've found that the amount of things to do has really diminished over the years.

I've never been to UO but I've been researching for the last several months and you are literally the FIRST person I've found who hasn't liked the changes to Universal over the past few years! I'm surprised that I haven't heard from SOMEONE before now, because there's just no way that all the new attractions over the past few years (especially HP) appeal to literally everyone.

So, if you don't mind my asking, what is it about the changes to UO over the past few years that you don't like?

We did 10D/9N at RPR in December, we could have stayed twice as long and not got enough of it.

We did 4 days in the parks two weeks ago and I felt we would have been fine with 3 max. Now the Royal Pacific I could stay at for weeks and just hangout! :thumbsup2

Do you mind saying when you're going and how much the AP rate per night is?
I wasn't going to get the AP, but I'm interested now!

sounds like Panther added days to her stay and used the smsm booking which lowered her rate.

with smsm, if you book 7 nights, the discount is higher.

Going from 6 nights to 7 increases the discount from 25% each night to 35%.

This will be our first ever Orlando trip where we don't do Disney at all. We'll be there for 7 full days. Most nights are at Cabana bay so we won't have express pass. The plan is many early mornings to take advantage of early entry. It will also be March Break so I am expecting high crowds and I am grateful for the extra time. I don't want to do parks from open to close anymore. I want my vacation to feel like a vacation.
We have splendid plans that include relaxing, and plenty of pool time, and leisurely dinners and *maybe* going to Aquatica one day. We may make one of our nights at RPR to take advantage of two days of express but the jury is still out on that one.
I think I am looking forward to this trip more than any other just for the down time and ability to do and see things as I please rather than with a spreadsheet and that feeling that we have to get from here to there. I just can't wait!!!:goodvibes

We're going over the 4/18 weekend.

For the Club 2 Queen Room
Initial rate SMSM (5 Nights):
Weekend: $359.25
Weekday: $344.25

with APH rate:
Weekend: $359.00
Weekday: $334.00

7 Nights APH (stayed the same):
Weekend: $359.00
Weekday: $334.00

7 Nights SMSM:
Weekend: $311.35
Weekday: $298.35

The King Deluxe is messed up because after it was booked, I got a free "upgrade" for being a Loews Platinum member. On paper that meant billing a Garden View King and upgrading me back to a Deluxe King.

But for the final 7 nights booked (GV King), it was:

APH:
Weekend: $224.00
Weekday: $199.00

SMSM:
Weekend: $223.60
Weekday: $210.60

You can play with all these on the Loews Hotels reservation site. When she saw the better rate on the SMSM for the C2Q room, she just assumed the King would be the same. Since I ran them on the site earlier, I asked her to check the APH rate - she saw that it was cheaper. So I applied the APH for only 1 of the rooms.

I wasn't going to get the AP, but I'm interested now!

Use this site: http://uo.loewshotels.com/en/booking/uo?hotel=UEPBH,UEHRH,UERPR

And enter "APH" into the code field. If an AP rate is there for your dates at the time you're looking, it will show up. If it doesn't, that means there isn't a rate at that time for the time you're booking. Check later, because things *can* change.
