7 Month Window Questions

Obviously if you try to book at a "non-Home Resort", I assume the issue with the 7 month window is when you book. From this board it appears that the school breaks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break) and summer vacations are the busiest.

It seems that people have not had problems booking OKW most of the time.

Who has had difficulty booking with the 7 month window?

Also - when I call member services and I am looking for a reservation - if I say I am willing to take a studio or 1 bedroom at any resort thats available, does that make it easier?

Just trying to plan. I would like to try BC/YC or BW to be close to Epcot, and of course looking forward to going home to SSR, but overall I am not really concerned where we stay.

Thanks

We are going for Christmas/New Year's. Another family member decided to join us. I couldn't get anything for the whole period at one resort (I reserved a combination of BCV and OKW). I waitlisted at the BCV for the whole trip and eventually got it. I also knew I was going to have trouble at HHI for Easter break and worked out a trade. Yes they are the busy times but with kids in school, that's when we can go.

Yes that makes it a lot easier when you say any resort.

We're assuming you actually mean BCV or BWV which are the two DVC resorts and not actually BC/YC or BW which are the Disney hotels.

OKW is easiest at 7-months because it's the largest of the resorts and therefore has more villas.

BWV standard view can be tough because they're a lower point schedule and so usually are reserved first.

If you stay away from the busiest times, are open for either a Studio or 1-B/R at any of the resorts, then you won't have any problems at all booking something at 7-months. Again, if booking at non-busy times, you'll most likely have your choice as probably everything will be available, with the possible exception of some BWV standard views.

If on the other hand you are looking for some of those busy times, then you may or may not have some problems. Again if you're wide open for resort or Studio/1-B/R then at 7-months you'll probably find something. If you don't find something, then waitlist.

That is great news! A Studio or 1 Bedroom are all we plan on using for our first couple of trips. I plan on letting them know immediately that we are flexible to use any of the resorts, although I am hoping to at least stay at our home SSR the first time we go!

We also do not plan on being at Disney during the busiest times, but staying for New Years Eve sounds tempting, and we may actually try that someday.

Thanks for your help and suggestions - I love this forum!

I've never had a problem getting early May at OKW at 7 months (1 bedroom), booked it the last 5 years.

I was also able to snag a BWV standard 1 bedroom for late April next year at the 7 month mark (sharing with friends, not all BWV points).

Given the special party that takes place at PI for NYE, staying at SSR on NYE sounds really special - even if you don't plan to attend the PI party that night (it can be costly), you're sure to hear and see the fireworks at midnight from SSR! Since SSR is your home resort, you can book your NYE stay right at the 11 month window! No worries about availability at the 7 month window or having to waitlist.

Enjoy!

That does sound like fun, going to Pleasure Island for New Years Eve. I also heard that PI does fireworks every night, so any time we stay at SSR, we would have a fireworks display. That would be great - we watched wishes from the Polynesian beach this October and it was great!

I get more psyched thinking about everything
