To All,

I wanted your thoughts on this interesting phenomenon I encountered this morning. I called to reserve Oct 11-18th at BCV BWV or VWL - hoping to move my OKW reservation. When I called for a 2BR, all three had availability, but starting on the 12-18th only. The 11th (exactly 7 months) was not available. Now since it was the 11th that was not available even though the new rules would allow me to reserve that full week had it been available, I could not reserve the other dates. I was told I would need to call back tomorrow.

I may be reading too much into this, but I found it strange that the 11th (even though a Sunday) was not available (the rest were) at all three locations. If this were due to many people calling to reserve for the F&W festival at the 7 month window, I would understand it but with the new rules would the rest of those days still be available.

The conspiracy theorist in me will really come out if I call tomorrow am and the same scenario plays itself out starting on the 13th. I'll call first thing tomorrow.:confused3

Thoughts?

I think it may have something to do with Sunday the 11th being the night before Columbus Day, and most kids being off school. The exact same thing happpened to me last year, I had to waitlist for the Sunday before Columbus day, although it did come thru.

I suspect that this year in particular, folks are trying for BLT at the 7 month window and that has alleviated some of the pressure on other resorts.

Colombus Day Weekend! Please post back the outcome.

We are going to BCV for Oct 9-12 and when we called Monday we were able to reserve all days. So we are going down for the weekend. We would have liked a studio but none available for the 11th so we went with the 2 bedroom. I bet you had no problems today reserving.
I do have one question. Would you have been allowed to reserve one night at OKW for the 11th and then the 12 thru whatever at BCV? Could you have done this on the 11th, it is a continual reservation but its at two different resorts and your start date is within the 7 months.

subscribing to that question! What an interesting idea, especially if you like the thought of spending arrival day at a resort with fewer points. Like go to SS, spend the evening at DTD and then move over to BCV. Have you ever combined like that yourself?

No I haven't done the first night and then switch. But I would really like to know if you could. Anyone?

I have found Sundays to be harder to get than the following weekdays. This was true when I tried for Sunday Dec. 7th last year (That one never came up, I stayed at Pop.) ...and also for June this year, I wanted to begin a stay on Sunday June 14th, BCV studio, it wasn't available, but the 15th was, so I'm coming in on Monday.

How did you make out today?

You could only book the single night at that time. Since you want to switch resorts, you have to wait until the next day to book that 7 months from the check in date of that part of your stay.

I, too, had trouble getting a Sunday reservation for our stay April 26-May 3. Because it was made with holding points, I was only able to book it two months out. Luckily I was able to start my reservation on Sunday, the 26th, but I wanted to stay eight nights, and the following Sunday was not available. I think it's because right now in 2009 the points are still so much less Sun. - Thurs. that many, many people start their ressies on Sunday. It will be interesting to see if this holds true next year.

To All,

I called first thing this morning and was able to reserve a 2 BR and a studio at BCV for the 12-18th, the 11th is still not available. I waitlisted for the 2BR on the 11th, not needed for the studio. Anyway, I was not thinking Columbus Day, so that must be it - no comment from the Member Svcs rep.

Anyway, the funny thing (and not funny haha), was that the 2 BRs were available as we started the conversation. Then suddenly as we began to toggle between the types of rooms (lock-out vs dedicated 2BRs), the lock-out was suddenly not there (others reseved it while we toggled).....then when we went back (as the rep had to let the dedicated go while we looked at the lock-out) to the dedicated, suddenly that was not there (moment of frustration). Eventually the lock-out became available and we reserved it, probably frustrating someone else - haha. So the lesson is be sure to secure first, then check options, especially if you know demand is high.

Finally, regarding seven months, you cannot waitlist and reserve the rest of the week. You can only reserve a string of days (into the 7 month window) if the first day is available at the 7 month window. Furthermore, if there is a break in your week, you will not be allowed to skip that day and reserve the rest - must be consecutive. In that instance you would have to wait for the 7 month window to open on the next available day.

So the conspiracy theorist sits this one out - we'll blame Sunday demand and/or Columbus Day for the lack of availability on 10/11.

Thanks to all.

Brian

Glad you were able to get your reservation.....Sundays do seem harder to book....I forgot to make our reservation at BWV for 10/15-21 at the 11th month mark...remembered in Jan..when I called to book the studio....the 15th & 18th were unavailable...I booked the other nights and waitlisted the 15th & 18th....they have both since come thru:banana:

The problem is that it's not one continuous reservation. It is one reservation for one night at OKW and a second reservation for BCV starting on the 12th. So on the 11th, you could book the reservation at OKW but you would have to call back on the 12th to book the second reservation.

The same would be true if you changed room types at the same resort. Staying one night in a studio and then moving to a 1BR at the same resort would be two separate reservations.
