7 month reservation change

I currently have 2 separate reservations for BLT, with a day in between still waitlisted (2 nights, then a waitlist, then 2 nights). My 7 month mark is coming up and I want to move my entire stay to VGF.
If I just modify my first reservation (the first two nights) and try to book all 5 nights at VGF, will it automatically cancel both reservations from BLT and apply all points to the new stay? Or do I have to cancel the second reservation before modifying? I don't have enough points to book first if that makes a difference.

You need freely available points to book VGF. You need to cancel the 2nd reservation and have those points returned to your available points balance. When you modify the first reservation from BLT to VGF, it will use the points from the first BLT reservation then grab the available points.

The system won't cancel the second reservation for you. You will have to cancel it so you can free up points.

Just be careful about cancelling the 2nd BLT reservation. I’m thinking of a situation where you cancel it and then when you modify the 1st reservation for VGF, VGF isn’t available. In that case, the system lets you keep the 1st BLT reservation but then you would have to book for replacing the nights of the second BLT reservation. It’s not ideal to wait to call MS at 9am but sometimes they are empathetic and could perhaps hold all nights at VGF and then cancel BLT reservation #2 to use those points for the VGF reservation.
