Can I combine points from 2 different non-home resorts to book at the 7 month window. If so, is there a way to do it all at the same time, so I don't risk losing it?

Ie. I have 2 different contracts, with 2 different use years, and I want to book a resort that is not at either of those 2 places, but it will require the points from both contracts.

Can I book the whole week at the 7 month window somehow? So that I don't book the first 4 days with my first contract, then when my next window opens the room is gone for the last 3 days of my trip. The whole 7 days are available at the moment.

Is this called transferring points? Is there a way to do it without transferring?

Points on different memberships can not be used for a single reservation without transferring. So, to accomplish what you want to do, you will need to move the points from one to the other.

When transferred. points retain all their own rules so you want to be sure that you choose the ones that won’t need t be borrowed to book, as transferred points can’t be borrowed to use.

Depending on your UYS, it may not matter. For example, if someone had an April and Sept UY and want to travel in July, 2024, they would not want to transfer Sept 2024 points to the April UY since those can’t be used for a July 2024 trip without borrowing.

Once transferred, DVC will set up a temporary contract that you will only see when booking, you will select that and the other one to use…or, call/chat with MS and have them help you.

Thanks, I think I will call, since I do have one more complication. You mention borrowing, I won’t be doing that… but the points I want to use are all banked …from both contracts. Maybe I will make the 4 night reservation first so I have something to work with, then see if I can call to transfer the points so that I can add the last 3 nights (with the banked points from the second contract). Can I transfer banked points? If I can’t, I will have to rent them out and just use the current useyear points.

Technically, you can’t transfer banked points but there have been times when they have done it for those who are transferring between their own memberships.

Since you have to call to transfer anyway, you can certainly ask if they are making an exceptions for that.

But, why not just book some nights on each and ask MS to link with a note so you don’t need to change rooms vs renting? We do that all the time and like it better than transfer.

Maybe this will work best, I’ve never needed to combine before, so kind of new to this idea. Is the risk with doing it this way that the last 3 nights might be sold out by the time that second 7 month window opens? But if I transfer points to all one contract, I could book all 7 nights at one time?

That is always a risk…but we have not run into it yet, Certain times I have actually started the second half the next day and booked a few extra nights and then moved it forward in hopes that I didn’t have an issue.

Not sure what you are trying for in terms of rooms which could make a difference.

Thanks for all your help, I understand the options better now. I'm trying for Aulani in July (so 7 mo window still a bit away), my first choice is a 1 BR (the lowest 2 point categories), but if I can't get that, then a studio (any view) would be ok, so I do have backup rooms in mind, but obviously no backup resorts in Hawaii! But what I don't want is to move rooms during the trip, we have done that plenty of times in WDW, and don't mind split stays, but we have never been to Hawaii, so want to focus more on getting out to see it all.
