ok, im forever on the boards reading everyones great tips/advice/opinions. now i want everyone to sound off about washing clothes while on vacation.
we will be @ AS sports in september for 7 days. for the past two years (one 5 day trip & one 6 day trip) i just packed lots. especially for the kids (spills, accidents,..) im thinking this year i would like to lighten the luggage load and pack less. how are the laundry conditions @ the values? similar to a laundromat? should i wash but hang in room to dry? ( i dont like high heat dryers that shrink clothes!) thanks in advance for your help!

Well, I am going to try and pack less since we are staying at SSR and will have a washer & dryer. I plan on doing the days laundry at night (with 10 people I'm sure there will be enough for at least one load a night) so that I come home with all clean clothes except for the bed clothes and the clothes on our backs. I say if you are willing to take the time -- go for it. You will be able to relax more when you get home!!

We stayed at pop last september and the laundry room was great and i met the nicest people there

Hi
I only do a little laundry if I really need to. I try to pack enough for 7 days so I don't have to wash. I think I only did wash once in the last 5 trips. I enjoy getting a break from wash, and don't really want to take the time to do it. I'm always worried that my luggage won't make the weight limit for flying, but it always does.

I don't mind doing laundry at WDW. At most resorts they are by the pool so you can hang out there. I think I would put them in the dryer for a least a little while. It's so huimd I think it will take forever to dry in your room.

We stayed at Pop last year, and it was the first year I packed for only four days out of an 8 day stay. I loved the decision. It was much easier to travel to MCO and back, even with the added purchases we made during our stay.

There is a laundry room right behind the pool bar at the hippy dippy pool. Throw in a load of solids and a load of whites, and then have a beer or two, while you watch the kids swim in the pool. What could be easier?

I read in a trip report recently about someone that brought washing powder in ziplock bags. This is a great idea, and will save you from having to gather extra change to buy the expensive boxes of powder sold in the laundry room. Dont forget to bring your own quarters, and it becomes no hassle at all.

Can't speak for other resorts. I imagine it could be a different story at CBR for example, where you might have to do a little walking, and babysit the clothes until they finish.

I'm a night owl, but my wife and kids aren't. Believe it or not, one of my favorite times during a WDW vacation is packing a suitcase with our dirty laundry on about Day 4 out of 7, wheeling it to the resort's laundry room, doing a couple of loads (at the same time) and sitting outside on a bench reading a book.

Once, when my then-5-year-old son was up late, too, we went to the quiet pool at our CBR village (which is where the laundry room was) and had a 10:00 p.m. swim while our clothes washed. I loaded the dryers, then took him back to the room, and by the time he was in bed I went back and got my clothes from the dryer.

It sure beats overpacking.

I agree with dreamin, I throw a load or 2 in and watch the kids swim. I usually do it at least once or twice during a ten day stay. We have a family of 5. Not only does it allow us to pack a little lighter, I bring home clean clothes. I hate putting stinky clothes back in the suitcase to bring home.

On both of our last to DW stays we did laundry half way through ( 9 day stay) When we stayed a Port Orleans in Alligator Bayou we had a laundry room right by the quiet pool outside our room so it worked out great, Last year at pop ( another 9 day) Dh and my in laws kept an eye on the kids in the pool while i did laundry, I pakced 2 shirts for every child and only had to do shorts and socks ( and of course my shirts , even though I packed 2 some days I would go through 3 , for some reason dirt and food is attracted to my shirts) Have a great vacation:)
