I liked the extra port of the Western and I LOVED the stingrays in Grand Cayman...the Eastern I liked the beaches but could do without the extra day at sea....others love the sea day but I prefer the port days!

I need another option which says, like the both equally. I like both routes for different reasons. I like the extra sea day on the eastern but also liked having the extra port on the western.

I voted for Western because we really liked the excursion options better. For example, last year on our western cruise we went to the Mayan ruins in Tulum, which is on the mainland of Mexico. They also offer Mayan ruins excursions right on Cozumel, if you don't want to travel off the island.

Like someone else mentioned, there's the Stingray City excursions for Grand Cayman, too.

I honestly would do EITHER itinerary, just to be on a cruise, but if given a choice, I like the western ports better :sunny:

We actually booked HAL for our New Years cruise, a similar route as Disney's Eastern, but found out the next day they were doing a "special" route for that week only.
We ended up on Disney just because of the Eastern route, so that would be my choice. I can drive to Florida and Mexico, we wanted the kids to experience the Caribbean.

I didn't post in the poll... but I'm bumping this to get more replies!

Western - For many reasons.....not the least of which is avoiding that whole St.Thomas immigration in your pajamas fiasco.

I like having the extra day at sea on the Eastern. New ports are nice to see, but you're not really immersing yourself into a culture when you've got an eight hour stop.

that being said, I'm looking forward to my "double dip" Western in Aug '06 - two stops at Castaway Cay!

Either way, you won't go wrong! :sunny: :cheer2:

Dang, I'd forgotten about this when I voted for the Western. Albeit it's awfully hard not to enjoy either cruise, even with the PJ role call on the Eastern.

I've only cruised Eastern, so I really can't compare. But I cruise for the ship not the ports, so the extra sea day on the Eastern is great for me. The extra sea day actually gives the Eastern an extra boost as my favorite.

I originally booked western because of Key West and Mexico, but then changed to the eastern, which seems less hectic with less ports-of-call. So the extra days at sea won.
I'll do Key West and Mexico on a non-cruise vacation, hopefully someday.

EASTERN!! We did it 3 times within 18 months and I just love it. St Thomas is my favorite island and the extra sea day is wonderful. But, alas, we're doing the Western this year to be with some friends. That's good tho - maybe we needed a change and we've done the Western several times on other ships so we know its cool too.
