Hi everyone,
I'm still just trying to figure out the whole Cruise thing......I'm waiting for the 2007 dates to come out and then I'm booking so I have a couple of questions. Is a 7 day cruise too long for a (In 2007 they will be 5 & 6 years old) or is it better to start with a 4 day cruise and spend a week a Disney World.
My other question...........Room Categories, How bad are Categories 10 & 11? Are there any good rooms in those categories or would you just avoid them all together.
Thanks everyone for your help... :earsgirl:

Hi there,
We just got back from our & day land & sea (jan 30-Feb 6). We stayed at CBR(loved it). Our girls are 7&4, and this was their 2nd Disney trip but 1st cruise. They loved it, most of all they loved the kids club. I wanted to try the 3 or 4 day cruise first to see how they did, as well as dh, I have cruised before. 2nd day into the cruise, dd-7 asked if we'd be booking our 7 day before we left for home? I found there was so much to do, that the 3 day cruise really wasn't enough time, but I wanted the 4 days in the parks. Now that we've been there, I wouldn't go for less than a 7 day. I'll help with any other questions you may have. If money is an issue, as it is to most of us, remember 2 things when booking: 1) time of trip(value, peak, holiday, etc)
2) the type of stateroom you choose for your cruise will determine your options at disney, ex: moderate VS. deluxe. If you don't plan on spending a lot of time in either of your rooms, resort or stateroom on cruise, then choose accordingly, it will save you a good amount of money. We went with an inside stateroom, and a moderate resort.

Hello fellow Ontarians! We also just returned from land and sea, 3 day CBR and 4 day Wonder. For more details, see my trip report on http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=742615

We booked a cat 12 and got upgraded to a 9. Now that we know what a 9 is like we'd book it again, it would be hard to go back into a smaller room. But I think that all rooms would be nice in a 10 and 11, it's just if you think you'd have enough room. My kids (4&5) loved the cruise, we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

We did the land/sea in October just to see if everyone liked to cruise--and of course it wasn't enough!!!! Now we're booked for a 7 day in 2006! It just depends on your family; it really isn't very long on a 3 day cruise, and there is so much stuff that you don't get to try. But, if your kids love WDW (mine do), you might combine the two just to make sure everybody likes the experience of a cruise before you shell out the money for a 7 day (Although, it's about the same amount of money, probably  !)

I'm not really helping you make the decision, lol, but at least I understand the dilemma!! :confused3

A agree with what everyone else is saying.

I think it would be a good idea if you could make a list of what would like, such as Date of going, number of days at WDW, number of days on DLC, what kind of room you would like, money for vacation and what kinds of things you would like to do with the kids, etc. Just make a sort of wish list and then go on from there.

Then after the list put the importance in order. To me it always seems better to understand when you see it in black and white. Thats why I think everyone likes to read these boards.lol

We booked a Cat 5 to be close to friends of ours because they had ended up booking later and couldn't get a Cat 6 (so we switched from a Cat 6 to 5.) I love being near the ocean - and so for us it was so cool to just go out after the kids were in bed and just talk and relax and watch the ocean go by. But if you don't really care for that kind of stuff then I wouldn't spend the extra money, go with a cheaper Cabin and spend the extra money where it is more important to you and your family- Just don't forget its YOUR vacation so do whatever will make you the happiest and have a :wizard: time!!!!!!!

Hope this helps!! :wave2:

There are NO bad rooms on the ship. Cat 10, 11 and 12 are missing natural light. They are functional. Some rooms have been reported as noisey because of storage areas underneath and night clubs above. Some times this noise can be loud, but you're more likely to get more noise from your neighboring rooms whereever you stay. They are not as big as the rooms at the All Star resorts (but then NONE of the rooms cat 5 through 12 are that big). With the cat 10 rooms you get the split bathroom which most families like.

We've stayed in cat 11 and 10 rooms. Had no problems. Really enjoyed the cruises. But we once stayed in a cat 10 spr room with some natural light and we've been cat 9 dwellers ever since.

Having a verandah on the upcomming repo cruise in august might be nice, but wow, for the price difference I'm sticking to the cat 9!!
