Hi guys:

Do I really need to be there at 4 - 4:30 AM to catch the 7 AM from YYZ-MCO?

Thx!

Who are you flying with? Do you have Nexus? THe biggest holdup at most times is immigration and security. Myself? I would be there no later than 4:45 :confused3

Thanks minnie56, sorry, guess I should've posted that... flying Air Transat... no, I don't have nexus...

I'm planning to be there between 4 and 4:15 anyway... guess I should be good...

It's better really to just be there...even if you find yourself through in no time and sitting in the departure lounge. You can nap inflight and be good to go when you get there.

I don't book those ungodly flights anymore. I hate getting up in the middle of the night! LOL...

We did this a couple of years ago and US customs was not open when they started check in for that early Air Transat flight. We had to clear customs in Orlando. I am not sure if they have changed this since then. I think that was in 2007 and 2009.

I'd err on the side of caution just to be safe. We flew Pearson to MCO today (10:30am flight), got to the airport at 8am but didn't actually get to our gate until 9:45 because security & customs were VERY backed up.

Another vote for being there early. I have seen customs backed up several times in the early morning at YYZ with many people in a near panic because they decided to catch a few more minutes of sleep. I always seem to get to the airport too early, but better safe than sorry with such things. :)

I agree with all of the posters...my motto...better to be sitting at the gate waiting then to be sitting in traffic or standing in line for security. We leave Sunday for a 6:45 am from YYZ to MCO and a friend is dropping us off by 4am.

This thread started a while ago--just to update, the security staff at Pearson have been working to rule. There are reports that some people have missed their flights as a result.

Are they still doing that? My DD flew back to NYC last nite with AC - her flight was at 8:40 p.m and we dropped her after 7:00. She was at her gate by 7:40. I do think mornings are worse though and someone told me there was disruptions today at Pearson ..:confused3

Yes - show up at the recommended time!

Yes - work to rule is indeed happening again today. It was all over CBC and City.

Just wanted to report zero security delays when we were at Pearson today (12th). It was our quickest airport experience ever returning from WDW actually, 20 minutes from landing to in our car driving home! What a difference a day makes.

If you are staying in Toronto the night before and flying out of Terminal 3, try staying at the Sheraton which is connected to the terminal via a walkway. When we had early morning flights from there, we would get up at 4:30, get ready and arrive at the checkin counter at 5, just in time for the immigration to open up.

My flight is from Montreal to Orlando - Westjet recommends I be there 2 hours before my flight. Do you think I should be there earlier?:confused3
(I don't have nexxus.)
