7 AM Extra Magic Hours? We're in!...NEW 12/27 p. 31

That's so cool that you saw Rachel and Howard in line! I've never had a surprise DIS meet, but that would be so cool.

Your Pluto looks great BTW. And I love your idea for the chapter titles. :thumbsup2

Nice update! What a small World you would see them on the same ride, how cool is that :)

I must ask where you do the drawings? we've done the little show with Mushu but have never done any drawing, or seen where that would be.

I've only eaten at the Commissary once, had fish and chips, and thought they were delicious. They have a few things you can't find many places in WDW which is nice.

I LOVE Piglet! My favorite ever (ever ever ever). But... why is his hand dirty? Oh Piglet.

What an awesome surprise Dis-meet! WHY don't you like your Pluto? He's awesome!!

OH, I was wondering where Emma had worked! How fun! That chocolate mousse looks really good.

That's so cool that you ran into Rachel and Howard at TSM! :cool1: How fun that you guys did the drawing class together, I love your Pluto, it's really good!

How neat to run into DIS friends! I love to see how the DIS brings people together.

Animation Academy is one of my favorites! I decided to try it during a solo trip and ended up turning right around and doing it again. I like the opportunity to stop and "participate" in something (other than just riding/watching), plus you get a free souvenir! :thumbsup2 Great drawing of Pluto.

How nice it was a surprise Dis-meet!

I think your Pluto is awesome! Way better than I could do. I draw a stick figure badly!:lmao:

Mmmmm, Chocolate mousse! I need some Disney food!

Toy Story Mania! I have yet to go on this ride... and reading about it just makes me realize that it MOST DEFINITELY needs to happen on our next trip!

That's so awesome that your dad stopped Rachel :) DIS meets are the best!

Your drawing of Pluto turned out great!

Oh my gosh! That chocolate mousse looks DELICIOUS! Yum!

What a fun DIS meet! Gotta love the unexpected ones.

We haven't tried ABC Commissary yet, for a while it was getting such poor reviews, but lately I've read a lot of positive ones. Perhaps Emma made it better! :goodvibes It's so pretty in there, we just might have to try it soon! That mousse looks yummy!

Yes, it was very fun. So glad we happened to cross paths!

You should try ABC one of these days. They have some pretty good things there.

Your Pluto is so good! :thumbsup2 My drawings there never turn out!

We have never tried eating at the commissary since it always gets bad reviews on here. It was nice to read that you enjoyed it :)

Thank you!

Ok, so now you and Brook said it's gotten bad reviews. I wonder why. Hmmm.

That's so cool that you saw Rachel and Howard in line! I've never had a surprise DIS meet, but that would be so cool.

It was just funny that we happened to be at the same ride at the same time. What are the odds?!

Thanks...we'll see if I can come up with some good titles. haha

OK, you can get to the Animation Academy either after the little show or you can just skip that part and go into the building. You have to go past where you go in for the show with Mushu. Have you ever met the characters in the Animation Building? It's in that same area. I'm sure next time you go you could always ask a CM for help. :)

I agree-the menu is a little different that some of the typical QS places.

I LOVE Piglet! My favorite ever (ever ever ever). But... why is his hand dirty? Oh Piglet.

LOL, that is what I was wondering. :confused3

I don't know why I didn't like my Pluto at first. I guess as we were drawing it just didn't look right. But, the more I look at it the more I think it turned out pretty good.

Yup, it was sort of hard not saying where she worked. But now you know!

That's so cool that you ran into Rachel and Howard at TSM! :cool1: How fun that you guys did the drawing class together, I love your Pluto, it's really good!

I know. It's great to meet/talk to people who love Disney as much as I do.

We've never done two classes back-to-back but we have definitely done it multiple times on a trip. It's so fun and you're right about the free souvenir!

How nice it was a surprise Dis-meet!

I think your Pluto is awesome! Way better than I could do. I draw a stick figure badly!:lmao:

Mmmmm, Chocolate mousse! I need some Disney food!

LOL, you might be surprised how you'd do. The really good instructors make it easy to do a good drawing.

Toy Story Mania! I have yet to go on this ride... and reading about it just makes me realize that it MOST DEFINITELY needs to happen on our next trip!

:eek:You've never done TSM?! YES, it DEFINITELY needs to happen on your next trip! I can't believe you haven't been on it!

DIS meets are a lot of fun. I hope to meet more DISers on future trips!

Thank you. :)

The chocolate mousse is really good. My sister highly recommends it. :thumbsup2

Monday, April 9, 2012 cont'd (part 3)...Backlots, Bad Timing, and Lightning McQueen!

When we were done with lunch, we strolled toward the Streets of America and then over to the Studio Backlot Tour. The plan was to do the backlot tour and then hopefully make it out in time so we could get over to the American Idol Experience.

We timed it pretty well at the Backlot Tour, so we ended up waiting only a couple minutes before being let into the preshow area.

It's always amusing watching the newfound actors perform for the Harbor Attack sequence and then seeing the "movie" with the parts they filmed.

Then we walked through the prop warehouse and out toward the trams. As we were getting on, there were a couple of other people getting in our row. The benches were all wet, which I think confused them a little bit but it was a little bit of foreshadowing for what was to come later on in the tour. So we're on the tram all set to go, but we weren't moving at all. I think it took about 10 minutes before we finally got going because they kept letting on more people and there were a couple families with people in wheelchairs. Eventually we were on our way.

100_8379.jpg

Then we get to one of the most exciting parts of the tour, Catastrophe Canyon.
100_8380.jpg

When the rain/water effects started up, those poor people sitting at the end of our row got pretty wet.

I guess I didn't take any more pictures after that but the ride was nice and relaxing. And we made it out in time that we'd be able to go see the American Idol show. YEAH! Being an American Idol fan (though not as much as I used to be-the real show hasn't been as good lately), this is one of my favorites at DHS. We somehow missed it in October, so I was looking forward to getting to see it again. Before we went into the theater, Dad had to stop in the restroom. I was a little anxious because I noticed there was a line of people waiting to get in (we were cutting it pretty close) and I just wanted to go. The CM was telling people that they were doing their best to get everyone in line into the theater. So we got in line, and everyone in front of us got in. When Dad and I got to the front, the CM stopped us and of course told us that there was no more room. REALLY?????? It figures that we were the cutoff people. I blame Dad for having to go use the bathroom. Not gonna lie, I was kind of mad that we missed it. We were going to have to do AIE another day because we were planning on going to see Lights, Motors, Action! and the times overlapped.

Since we had some time before LMA, Dad asked what I wanted to do and I suggested we go see the Jedi Training Academy. It's always fun to watch the little kids battle Darth Vader. So we walked over toward Star Tours.
100_8382.jpg

We stood around there for a while but the show wasn't starting. Somehow they were having technical difficulties (don't really understand how, but OK). We still wanted to make it to Lights, Motors, Actions! so we weren't able to see the young Jedis either. Another thing for another day.

Back to the Streets of America we went.
100_8383.jpg

The last time we saw the stunt show was in 2008, so I really wanted to see it again, especially now that they updated it to include Lightning McQueen. :)

I am not usually into action/car movies, but the stunts they do in this show are amazing!

As you can see on the screen, this was part of the Ballet Chase.

Lightning...KACHOW!

And because no trip report update would be complete without a Stacey reference..."Is he OK?"
100_8396.jpg

Overall this show is really good. It's definitely filled with lots of action and I enjoyed the new little Cars sequence.

By that time, we were just about ready for our afternoon break. We took a quick stroll through the shops on Hollywood Boulevard and I stopped for a picture by this sign:

Yay Milwaukee. :)

up next: a delicious treat from the Boardwalk bakery and who is Billy Mitchell?

I bet you were feeling like, what's going to be down next?!? Good thing there's another day to visit!

LMA is John's favorite show in DHS. We saw it with Herbie last time, I bettcha Lightning McQueen doesn't split in 2! :lmao:

Billy Mitchell! My Grandpa calls it Billy Mitchell's airfield, that's were he flew his planes back in the day.:rotfl:

That Pirates poster isn't a year old or anything. :confused3

I've only been on the Backlot Tour once, and that's the moment it decided that Catastrophe Canyon didn't want to work, so we basically went off the course and backwards through the ride... fun stuff. :sad2:

I am SO ready for a girl to win American Idol, it's not even funny. I just was not happy with how the season ended up. I would have absolutely loved for Skylar or Hollie to win. Stinks that you didn't get to go into the show!

I find it hilarious that Lightning looks so happy to be fighting 'the villain with the missile' hahah.

Yep, that's the nice thing about long trips. :thumbsup2 I was still a little bummed about AIE.

LOL, no, Lightning doesn't split in half. Herbie was fun but it was definitely time for an update.

I knew a Wisconsinite might know the answer about Billy Mitchell! I didn't know who he was until I learned it in WDW. haha

haha, I know, right?

Wow, that must have been some experience going through backwards. Bummer it didn't work.

I kind of want a girl to win too. I was really pulling for Hollie this year but hated how she always got ripped apart. Speaking of Skylar and Hollie...did you know that BOTH of them actually won the dream ticket at Disney World?! There are actually a couple more too from the top 13. So crazy!

I KNOW RIGHT. Lame.

I saw on the Disney Parks Blog that Hollie had won, along with 'four other members of the Top 13.' But they didn't say who the others were! SO awesome that one of them was Skylar!!! I just wish I knew who the others were as well! I'm guessing nobody else in the top 4, or else I'm SURE they would have mentioned that!

So, I've pretty much realized that I haven't done a million things at DHS. Toy Story Mania (THE HORROR!!!), American Idol, Backlot Tour, LMA, etc. Isn't that awful?! I fail as a DISer!

The picture of you by the Milwaukee sign is cute :goodvibes

What is a dream ticket, for AI?

Love the Milwaukee sign.

No, it wasn't anybody else in the top 4. I'm getting ahead of myself but when we did end up going to AIE a different day, the host said they had a few contestants in the top 13. But they couldn't say who at that point (I guess they have to wait until they get voted off because they think it'll influence the voting).

No, you don't fail as a DISer. There are some things I've never done either. Just more reason to go back, right?

Thanks. :) It was fitting since I wore my Brewers shirt that day.

I'm loving your TR. :)

Aww, glad you are enjoying it!

What is a dream ticket, for AI?

Love the Milwaukee sign.

The dream ticket is what the winner of the finale show wins. They like to joke around and call it the world's greatest fastpass because it allows the winner to go to the front of the line at any American Idol audition site. Aaron Kelly, a contestant from a couple seasons ago, won the dream ticket and they now feature him in the preshow because he made the top 5. It's crazy that there were so many people this year who won at AIE!

Me too!

I'm back and trying to get caught up!

Gotta love a surprise DIS-meet. I had a few of those on my recent trip!

Watched an AI finale show, and thought of you! ;)

Sounds like a fun DHS day!!:thumbsup2 Yay for a Dis-meet!!:yay: I can't wait to try the drawing class at the Animation Academy!! Your drawing of Pluto turned out great!

Ugh, Brandon wants to do that stunt show, and I keep putting it off when we are in DHS...I know, I'm a bad wife, but I feel like I'm going to be bored out of my mind!

The Jedi Training thing had technical difficulties? Weird! :rotfl2:
