Good to be back. Sorry for the huge delay. The teachers obviously don't realize that in the first month of school, things are still starting to break in. So, they have shown no mercy and I have been loaded down with homework and then basketball conditioning is starting, so I haven't had much free time. But here is the fourth day

I awoke Tuesday morning of course excited to still be on the cruise, but I was also even more excited to go to Grand Cayman because it was our first stop outside of the country. Plus, we signed up for the Stingray City/ Turtle Farm excursion. I got up around 9 and of course my parents were already back and showered from their daily 4 mile walks on the track. From there I showered, got dressed and then ran and got some breakfast. We HAD to be at Walt Disney Theatre by 10:45 by the latest because that's when they were giving tender passes to get to the CI. I gobbled down some food and then we ran down to deck 4. We rushed and rushed to get their in time, but we ended up waiting there for about 10 minutes. But you definitely have to get there early so you don't miss the tender. We all left as a group and walked down to deck one to make the tender boat. Beware...as a 15 year old kid and lover of roller coasters and everything of the sort, I loved the ride into the island. It wasn't horrible, but it was kinda bumpy. Plus, if it is windy or the seas are choppy, it could get worse. But if you are motion-sickness prone, then I would suggest taking something. Please, don't think it was like people puking all over the place, but it did bump and move a little. The island looked like any normal port city. But we pulled in, got out, and then went to check in by the desk Disney set up for the excursions. We didn't do one through a company, we just booked it through Disney. Everyone in the excursion all got a Donald Duck sticker to wear to distinguish the people taking part in the excursion. The only bad thing was that we had to stand in the hot, humid weather while all the stragglers filtered in. But after that, we all boarded the buses and drove around part of Georgretown while the guide explained everything. It was so interesting, the transportation was like Europe, the driver seats were on the right and they drove on the "wrong" side of the road. I luckily managed to grab the passenger seat, which is cool if you want to sit up there. You could hear the driver perfectly, and also, hint hint, it is a great picture spot to get unimpeded pics. Anyway, while driving, we saw the new hotels, the Governor's mansion, and 7 Mile Beach. After about 20 minutes, we went to Hell. Ok, Hell was cool for a tourist spot and picture place. The rock formations were cool. But I didn't think it was great, like I wasn't it amazment.. It was cool to say you know, I've been to Hell and survived. I liked it. From there, we went to the Turtle Farm. I thought it was sooo cool. You saw the gigantic turtles and then the small baby ones. Plus, picking them up were awesome. I can't describe how neat I thought it was. After that, we drove a little more and came to the Stingray City boat. Once again, that was a little bumpy and windy. My grandma lost her visor into the ocean. The ride out was probably 20-25 minutes. But the two guys running it were hilarious and I really enjoyed talking to them. So it went my fast. Wow, Stingray City is amazing. It' crazily amazing!!! First of all, the water is a crystal-clear blue. Not just easy to see through, it's like pool water clear. And then there's perfect white sand. It's great. So anyway, we pull in and you can see the sandbar from about 5 minutes away. There's huge dark blobs which are the stingrays. So....we dock and then we grab our snorkel stuff. They have lifejackets to use if you want, but the water is only maybe 3 feet. But wow, feeding the rays are great. If you are holding the squid pieces in your hand, the rays book it directly to you and they swim all over you. I was careful not to step on anway of them to make sure I wouldn't accidentally get stung, but they come all over. And I can't descirbe the feeling of them eating the food, but man....they suck it out of your hand hard. I remember hearing about people who had "hickeys" on their arms from the stingrays. But it ws great, I really didn't want to leave. But, of course we had to. There is one story though that I thought was so rude. I am pretty sure it was Emerald City lines, but anyway we were all leaving. And this sandbar is not huge, but it's pretty big. So anyway, we were pulling out and just as we were all getting on the boat, this huge emerald city boat comes in and almost hit us. It pulled up SOOOO close to us, we were all yelling at it. I thought that was kinda rude. So after that fiasco, we departed and got back to the dock at around 3:30. There was a 20 mintue drive back. But I'm not kidding, by the time we got back to the place they dropped us off, I was incredibly hot and hungry. I don't mean to sound like I whine, but it was so sticky and I hadn't eaten since breakfast that morning, so I grabbed a cup of ice water they had waiting for us, and got back on the tender with my brother. My other family walked around the town for a little while longer. But I got back, showered and immediately went to Pinnochio's and ESPN to get pizza and nachos. So after that great time, my bro and I met up with our friends and we just kinda hung out until dinner time. A friend of mine, his parents went to Palo, so my bro, me, another friend, and he all went to dinner with him. So it was just four kids, which was a blast. The menu was great, it was Around the World night, which was great as usual. The waiters all had different flag vests. I got the quesadillas for appetizers, the salmon for dinner, and then the Tiramisu for dessert. Naturally, all the deserts were great. That night's show was either Disney Dreams or Who Wants to Be a Mousketeer, I forgot, but either way we didn't go to it. I had already seen both, and although Disney Dreams is a must see, I personally didn't want to go back. It was really good, but I was having too much fun with my friends. Instead we went and saw Pirates of The Carribbean. That was phenominal. Unless you live in a cave, you must have seen all the hype about it here on the boards. And it is worth everything. THey played it in the Walt Disney Theatre, and it was amazing. I don't want to ruin it, but the graphics were so good, and then the actors, especially Johnny Depp who was the best person ever for the role he played, were great. Plus, look for the similarities to the ride cause there are some. After that, it was pretty late. But, they did this thing called Invade the Lab where they opened the Oceaneer's Lab to us. We made Flubber. It was a blast!! Like that was one of my favorite nights with everything. The mixture is simple, but I don't want to give it away. In fact, I still have my Flubber from it sitting in the fridge. Plus, it was neat seeing where the younger kids play, it was quite impressive. And, I made some really cool friends sitting and talking. I do have to say, it reminded me of kindergarten. I am pretty tall for my age, and sitting in those seats designed for young kids, my knees came over the table. I felt like I was back in kindergarten, pasting stuff together. After that, we hung out for a little and then went to sleep late yet another night. Oh, a quick funny think. I'm not kidding, I swear 3/5 people on the ship went on at least some form of the Stingray City thing. Every time I passed people or saw some in the elevator, they were all talking about the stingrays or the turtles and I enjoyed talking about that with other people. I highly recommned doing it. It was definitely a highlight of the trip. Because a weekend is coming up, I will finish it soon!!

You ought so submit these to your English teacher for extr credit.

just got back from my cruise. i did a lot of the teen activities that you've mentioned and had a great time. and i did finally get to see pirates of the carribean (and a few other movies as well). i agree that grand cayman was not all that great. it reminded me of nassau.

that's what I thought, but I loved stingray city. I'm trying to get the other three days done, but it's so hard with school and basketball. but stay tuned!!!

I've really enjoyed reading your reports. My wife and I were on the August 2-9 Western and we really had a great time on Grand Cayman also. We didn't do the sting rays. We did Rum Point beach and some snorkeling. It was the bomb!! Great job on the report, ready to read some more!

thanks lance, keep up the great work on the trip reports! :)
