With the excitement of the first day over, we were ready to get to the cruise. How exciting!!! The first full day, Sunday, was a port day at Key West. The ship docked at about noon, and we weren't able to get off until about 12:30. We got up at about 10. I got dressed and then we all went to Topsiders for breakfast. It was good, those Mickey waffles were really good. I also lived off of those hash brown patties for breakfast. They were great. Anyway, we got off at probably 1. The first thing I noticed was the heat. Just sweltering. The instant you walked out you started sweating. My dad had been to Key West before on business, so he knew all the places to go. So, we decided not to do any excursions. However, a lot of my friends did the train excursion. They said all you did was sit in a trolley for about an hour, hour and a half, and had all the sights shown to you. Basically from 1 to 4, we walked to different places. It was really interesting. The town is not quite what I expected though. It was pretty touristy, but I enjoyed it. We walked past Sloppy Joe's Bar, took pictures at a bar called something like The Garden of Adam and Eve (the sign was great, it said "clothing optional). We walked past the Jimmy Buffet restaurant. We also walked to the southernmost point of the U.S. I have to tell you, it was interesting to see, I would suggest going there to get pictures. But, it's a very long walk. I would say probably two miles from the ship at least. I was dripping sweat by the time we got there because of the heat and humidity. Also, there are tons of people milling around, trying to get pictures. So I would see it to say I have been there, but it was an interesting trip. And then of course, they play off of the southernmost point thing all over. There's the southernmost house, the southernmost restaurant, you name it, there is a southernmost point of it. Also, we saw mile marker 0, which is pretty cool. Another fun thing was that while we were there, coincidentally, it was Ernest Hemingway's birthday celebration. So they had signs everywhere about it. Something I suggest is there is a Crowne Plaza there that has been around for a long time. If you go in there, you can go to the top floor. Once there, you can see ALL of Key West. Then you can see the Magic docked, looking great. Also, the Little White House where Harry Truman used to come down to a lot is not far from the ship. Also, the birthplace of Pan American Airlines is marked there. By this time, I was practically begging my dad to go back to the ship. It was incredibly hot, and I was a little tired of seeing all the tourist spots. Basically, we walked around for 4 hours touring Key West. It was very interesting, a pretty place, one that I would definitly go back to. But, was I glad to get back to the ship. As soon as I got on I got a cup of ice water at the station and had a couple of glasses because of the heat. I must have had three cups of ice when I got back because I was so thirsty. And I was starving because I hadnt had anything to eat since breakfast. After cooling down, my brother and I hung out at Common Grounds until we had to get ready for dinner. Tonite was Animators Palate. I was pretty excited to eat there since I hadn't eaten there last time. I was excited for the show too. I have to say, I thought this night was the best overall. The food was the best, and the show was great. I got the Maple-glazed Salmon which was fantastic. And then the double-chocolate cake was great also. From there we changed for the show. Tonight was C'est Magique, which was Morty the Magnificent. Ok, let me be blunt. The show was fair, nothing more. It was ok, nothing spectacular. I guess I expected it to be a magic show, but it turned out to be a show about a magician who can't do magic. I went away kinda disappointed. I feel they could have definitley done a better job of it. Or, I think they could have done a better show in general. But it's not like, I walked away thinking this show stinks, I just didn't think it measured up to Disney's standards. After the show, I said good-night to my parents and then Kyle and I went to Common Grounds. Tonight was registration for Gotcha. Gotcha is a game where every kid has a nickname, and then they take a picture of you, and then you have to go around tomorrow "killing" certain kids different ways. I thought it was great last time, but this time I was too involved with friends to run around chasing kids. But it is fun to do. After that, at about 12:30, we went down to Teen Kareoke. A lot of the same kids went up and did songs. They all had really good voices. But, I think I said it earlier, Family Kareoke was so much better. It may sound goofy, but at Family everyone in the ground cheered and supported the singers. At the teen one, all the kids just kinda sat there and listened. I had fun watching everyone, but I gotta say family kareoke was better. That lasted about an hour, and then it was kinda the same routine as last night. There was a dance, but this time, most of the kids were dancing. We all had a full day to meet kids and get more comfortable. Ellen did the DJ'ing, and she did a good job. Although, by the end of the week, I had heard the same songs at the dances about 10 times. But nothing against Ellen or the counselors, it is just hard to find stuff kids like and that is permissible to play. After the dance, the group of us went to deck 4 and talked. In fact, we talked till about 2:30, and we all went in when the worker came around and took away the blue cushions. That was basically our time every night when we called it a night. Plus, we were all pretty tired from the day. Looking forward to tomorrow, we knew we had a full day at sea!!
