7/19 Magic pictures

Loved your pics and thanks for sharing! It was nice meeting you at the DIS meet too.

Great pictures and thanks for sharing!

Caitlin had a blast with Kristen. I am so glad that they met and hung out together. She really misses all of "her cruise people"!

Great pictures Richy - thanks for sharing!

Richym1~

I have enjoyed visiting your web site home page, following your cruise/Hilton Head family trip reports and wonderful pictures for a few years now. They never fail to amaze me! Your beautiful girls are growing up way too fast...LOL!
Thanks for sharing with our board. :)

Thanks for sharing your pictures, Richy, you got some GREAT shots!! :)

I was looking at your pictures (wonderful by the way), and I saw that you did the Key West Sail and Snorkel on the Catamaran. Would you mind giving me a little review of that excursion? We have that booked for September and I'm looking for all the details you care to provide.

Thanks!

Had a GREAT time on the Fury Catamaran Tour. The reef was surprisingly untouched and beautiful. We took out own snorkel stuff. Not sure we would take anything more than flippers that fit well the next time. Their equipment is clean and well maintained. I would recommend this highly. We took this one because it was short and got us back before dinner. It worked out great. It's a big, solid decked catamaran with plenty of room for all. The Golden Eagle in St. Maarten was smaller, but more of a party boat.

Thanks so much for posting . Myself and DH have enjoyed your website for the last few years as well, and look forward to your wonderful trip reports.

Keep up the good work. You have brought so much enjoyment to us all!!

Richym1:

Thanks for the info on the Key West Sail and Snorkel...now, for more questions.

1)Was your excursion at 12:30pm? Did it stay within the time frame they state which is 3 1/2 hours? Did you have time to wander around Key West after this?

2)What drinks were provided?

3)Did you wear swim suits and just a cover up? Or did you wear your clothes and change onboard?

4)Another poster awhile back mentioned that the surf was very, very rough and her DH and kids did not enjoy the trip due to this...it made it too hard to snorkel she said. Did you experience this at all?

5)How many people were on the boat with you? (approximately of course)

6)Did you see lots of cool stuff?

Thanks ever so much!!!

We did the morning excursion. It was about 3 1/2 hours I guess. Through Disney. They led us on to very comfy, airconditioned busses (little) for a short ride to the boat. I would say there was about 50 or 60 of us. It's a quick trip out to the sand bar which they parked right on. It was pretty calm that morning. The water was to my chest, and I'm 5'11". My 10 yr old could just touch the bottom. We were NOT allowed to wear anything on our feet (to protect the rays). No swim fins allowed! It was VERY cool and we were swarmed my these wierd, gentle, flapping, rubbery creatures. There were lots of boats out there, but plenty of stingrays for everyone! They sold floppy disks with your pictures on them. They also had a videographer. You have to make sure to hang around them and hold the rays for the cameras if you plan to buy a tape. I was too busy playing tag with my handfull of squid. They give you squid to lure them up into your arms and feed them. They provided only water and punch, I believe. I bought a Stingray beer for the souvineer bottle. We had plenty of time to lunch on the magic and then shop at the TONS on stores in town. Go to the shopping lectures to get your VIP shopping cards. We did this one because people said to skip the other stops (Hell, Rum Point and turtle farm). We had enough beach time that week anyways.

OK, now I'm confused....there are stingrays in Key West? Or are you talking about Grand Cayman? I was asking about the Catamaran Sail and Snorkel in Key West. Thank you for all your assistance.

Oh sorry! I was thinking Grand Cayman and Stingrays! I think they had beer on tap after the snorkeling on the Fury. They had pop or something for the kids. They put up the sail, but continued to motor the whole trip. I'm sure if it was windy, they would use just the sail. We had about 50 or so on the boat. The reef was very nice! Lots of fish, coral and colors. They had a staircase that drops down through the front of the boat, making it easy to get in and out. I could have stayed in longer, but most people seemed satisfied with the time. Sit in the benches near the front on the deck if you want some sun. Most people went to the lower deck and didn't have a great view. Yes, it was the 12:30 excursion. This left plenty of time to roam around Key West afterwards. They stayed in port till 8:30 or so. Sorry about the confusion...it's kinda a blur now...We had a great time.

Yes, we all wore swimsuits. Girls wore cover ups. I have a great suit that dries quickly. 2 sets of showers to wash off the salt water are available. They do have bathrooms on board. The Fury is parked at the same set of docks that the magic is. It's a very short walk across the pier. The equipment they provided was clean and well maintained. We saw baraccuda and small sharks. A couple HUGE, grouper like fish. We would do this again.
