Amen to the East vs. West. I think it's true for most people. When you go East, you're have to force yourself to sleep earlier to adjust. Going West is just a matter of staying up later - which is easier for most people.

I've also used Melatonin with great success to help reset my body clock - especially going East.

Have you ever noticed how badly timed flights are to Orlando from the West Coast? Either you take a red-eye, in which case you arrive early in the morning and are a zombie during the day while waiting for your room to be ready at 4pm so you can finally nap. Or you arrive late at night, starving, but all of the restaurants are closed so you're forced to eat at some awful Dennys or pay for overpriced room-service? :confused3

I know some flights always seem to be at stupid times, at least our USA flights are logical if not convenient, Our planed tend to leave mid morning say my summer flight is 11.15am, get to USA Orlando at 15.30, EST, Then start to come back at 6pm, for 7am local UK. Then of course they are ready to go back mid morning.

So each day its used all the way through for a round trip.

Our main airports close 12 midnight to 6am, so if there was a daytime flight back it would have to leave Orlando say by 11am to ensure getting in before the airport closed.

So there isn't to many alternatives.

I was wondering how early you could check in:thumbsup2
You weren't tired from jetlag:confused3
I remember reading about someone who thought they could get by with sleeping on the plane and wound up nodding off in a theatre the first day in London.
I figured we would play it by ear for the first day and leave the majority of the walking for our second:confused3

We've been very fortunate and have always been able to check into our hotel when we've arrived in the morning. Not sure if it's good luck on our part or because I mention it when booking.

We always stay up the day we get there or just take a couple hour nap, but that's it. You can't arrive and go to bed or you will never adjust to the time correctly. I wouldn't recommend going to the theater the first night, because you will fall asleep. As long as you keep moving you will be fine. Make plans for the first day so you have to walk around and that way you won't be wasting a day of sightseeing.

Last summer we were out of the room at 10:15am and returned at 10pm, showered and fell asleep rather quickly. When we got up the next day we were fine for cruise, never felt the jetlag. Our tablemates were another story, they arrived the same morning we did and took a 5 or 6 hour nap and couldn't get adjusted to the time change for several days.

Also, keep in mind on the cruise we will be going thru 3 time zone changes so you have to get used to UK time when you first arrive.

OK, so having gone thorough the posts we have enough for one coach already!!! Not a problem for anyone else or late comers to the board/cruise - we can always lay on another coach or a mini coach dependent on numbers. We also have sufficient numbers for organised transport from the port back to Heathrow. If anyone is flying out of Gatwick it wouldn't be difficult to drop them off either. I've kept a list of names & will contact you all closer to the time for confirmation you still want the place & to find out where we need to collect you from! In the mean time, please PM me with any changes so I can keep up to date (ish).

Had a great (but damp) day with my sister 7 her kids at Drayton Manor Park which is Staffordshire way. The little ones had plenty of Thomas the Tank Engine related rides whilst me, my sister & BIL rode the 2 coasters & apocalypse. Paul & Lauren rode the Kali river rapid imitation & got stuck in some sort of basin area! Longest wait was 20 mins, but I'd hate to be there when it is a scorching day - they were not as slick as the US parks at crowd management on the rides, e.g. no single rider queues.

Celestine

Sounds like you had a wonderful day out. :thumbsup2

:worship: :worship: :worship: Thank you so much for organizing the bus transport for all of us, that is a huge help. I will definately keep you updated on how many seats we will be needing and what time our flight will be leaving and from what airport.

I would love to work out a way to join in in a bus. But sil has sort of taken over the trip because she is working with her friend who is a travel agent. I am so used to planning all our trips from home to back again. My husband sits back and lets me have at it.

On a happier note.......we bought a new garment bag today!:thumbsup2

Hey all, we're down in Miami, visiting our DD22 and enjoying the sun. I've just caught up.....bus has been organized.....Robert's making a liquor run:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.....discussion about jetlag......what really surprises me is.......WE'RE ACTUALLY DISCUSSING THIS TRIP!

We would be interested in the bus transportation also, if it's still available. At this point, we're a group of 4. That could grow to 6 or drop to 2 at this point.

Hope all are having a nice weekend......we've got one more after this before school's out.........popcorn::

Firstly Miami is nice, have to go back there soon, enjoy.

Secondly been nice we have started planning for next year, and all the contributions, My mind has been on 2009, so much to organize for that, but i think I am there on that one now, nothing else to do.

As we get to the one year pre cruise mark, I think thats an important milestone and as we have our summer vacations, our minds will focus more on 2010. Hotels start to open up reservations for 12 months in advance so we will move into that window.

For me there is far less planning for 2010, no flights, no hotels abroad, but I will organize some shore trips for this cruise.

I think later this year say November DCL will send out a DVD for the Baltic, ports of call, information on currencies etc, and shore trips, I think there will be high cost as they know these will be popular.

Oh my god, nice relaxing Sunday, Dis radio on, then it comes on, yes 'it' as in ''ITS'' a small xxxxx after all, :scared1:

I am off to rehab.............

Spooky as I posted this my Laptop frooze and had to reboot and lost the music,

I like Its a Small World!

I am listening to Disney music as well we just had a 100 year old Mehling Baby grand converted to play from discs and I am listening to Disney's Greatist Volume 1!:cool1:

There is a CD by a fello named Chris Calabrese playing Disney medley's I am not sure if he used to work at Casy's Corner at one of the parks, but he is fabulous! I wish he would cut a player disc!

Can the TA friend get you transfers at this great a price? If not tell SIL that you are organizing the transfers and at a great rate that can't be beat - that is all true. Having a TA is good, but they can't be used for everything.

You men are so funny this morning. Maybe I'll make a cd for Andrew that only plays "It's a Small World" and when you turn it off it won't stop playing. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :dance3:  :scared1:

And believe me JoJo needs your help!:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

When I first read that, being so funny you were going to make me the CD (Cruise Director), of this cruise, I thought fine, but then......

That tune, I cannot get out of my head, :scared1:

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Now that is funny. We'll make you an honorary BD (Ballyhoo director).

Sounds like you might be needing to hit a bottle or 2 to get the song out of your head.
