6th grade Language Arts - Cornell Note Forms???

OK - The Cornell notes form is a new one for us.

The past three years (4th, 5th and 6th grade) my son had to use traditional note cards for projects. Now for his final 6th grade project he must use the Cornell Notes Form.

Why switch mid-year? He was finally understanding how to take good notes in Note Card format.

Your last line probly answers your question. If they have mastered it time to go on to something else. So in college (or live) they can pick the one that best works for thim. Saying that I dont even know what cornell notes are

That's just it - I wouldn't say that he has mastered it. He now understands what to do - that doesn't mean he is good at it.

DD18 had to do Cornell notes in 8th grade. She has never actually used them since.

My fifth grade son used them in Science this year. I was uncertain at first, but they really helped him. Of course, he's never done the note card thing either. I just know it worked for him in that subject.
