6th Annual Jersey Week Trip - Days 1 and 2

This is my 25th trip, DW's 18th (I think) and DD's 14th (we think - we've lost count).

This year's trip is unusual. We generally leave Friday afternoon and drive down, stopping overnight along the way. This year, we ran into a schedule conflict. One of DD's best friends was having her Bat Mitzvah Saturday night and DD didn't want to miss it. So we decided that I'd drive down alone and take all the luggage. Then, DW and DD would fly down Sunday morning.

So I hit the road about 2:00pm Friday. I made a couple of stops along the way and stopped for the night in Wilson, NC at the Fairfield Inn. Saturday morning, I was back on the road about 7:40am and pulled into Orbit One Villas just after 5:00pm. Total distance door to door from home was 1014 miles.

After settling in, I headed over to DTD. I wanted to go to Guest Services to pick up our park passes. I had ordered them online last week. FYI - Guest Services is now in the space between the athletic shop and Arribas Bros (which has been totally remodeled, btw). Then I went to Earl of Sandwich for dinner. I've heard a lot about them but have never eaten there.

OMG. That place was complete and utter chaos. Is it always like that? The guy taking orders seemed to be doing just fine, but the process at the other end by the registers was nuts. They didn't seem to have any clue or system in place. In the short time I was there, I saw them screw up at least 6 orders. Guests were NOT happy at all. Totally not what I expect at Disney.

My sandwich, the Florentine (chicken, spinach, mushrooms and cheese) was very good. Well worth the price.

After dinner, I walked over to Pleasure Island and West Side just to stretch my legs after driving all day. Are the Irish Pub and Fish and Chips places new?

By then, it was about 8:30pm. I was tired and wanted to stop at the grocery store before heading back to relax. Tomorrow, DW and DD are due to arrive in Tampa airport at 1:00pm. I'll get up and get some stuff unpacked before driving to Tampa. I'm planning to check out the Hard Rock Casino while I'm waiting for their plane to come. Not sure what we'll do tomorrow. Maybe DTD or maybe Beaches and Cream for dinner. We won't do a park since it will be 3:00 or so by the time we're back near Disney.

We ate at Earl of Sandwich and encountered the same chaos. Makes you wonder when the CM's look at you and act like they don't know what they are doing.

The new Irish resturant is Raglan Road. It is suppose to be pretty good.

This is our 6th year doing Jersey Week. It has gotten gradually more crowded each year, but is still very manageable. The end of the week is busier than the beginning of the week because a lot of people don't come until Wednesday night. Also, it is the final weekend of Food and Wine and also Super Soaps weekend.
