We are flying out of Buffallo for the first time in May. What time should we arrive at the airport? Flying southwest and staying at one of the airport hotels.

I'd get there around 4:30am. You don't have to do customs at the Buffalo airport as you already have done it crossing the border, so essentially you are doing a domestic flight.

Yep 4:30 should be fine. It's really painful to get up that early but so worth it when you are in Orlando and on your way to WDW at 9am :)

4:30 a.m. is probably your best bet, security lines won't be to bad anytime after 5 a.m. and they tend to get backed up and everyone tries to rush through.

I would aim for around 4:30 - 5:00. I don't get there any earlier than an hour for my flights anymore. No matter what day or time I travel, there is never any major wait for security. And I wouldn't get there any earlier than 4:30. OR else you will be sitting with absolutely nothing to do.

I never panic for the Buffalo airport anymore. We had a time a few years back that we were running late. We had checked our bags and would have been ok but the line up for security was huge. It had never been like that before for us and I was freaking out. My dh calmly went over to the little section on the right (for wheelchairs maybe) and spoke to someone who looked in charge, explaining that we were going to miss our flight and they took us right through, we didnt have to wait at all! I just love that little airport!!!

If not checking bags I would wait until 4:30 but when we took that same time flight with Southwest we went at 4 am and it was perfect- employees for Southwest were just arriving- we had no line ups to check luggage and no line ups at security........I would prefer to sit and read/go on computer at the gate then stand in line waiting to check bags which has happened when we go later.

The answer to this question depends on who you ask in this family:rolleyes1
My husband would be happy to get there at 5a.m. I would prefer to be there at 4:00.
I wouldn't recommend later than 4:30. But I like to know I am all settled and ready to go. We grab some drinks and sit and wait for little while but the buffer makes me happy and since I am an anxious flyer the last thing I want is to be adding on the worry of making it there in time.

so glad i found this thread :)

we're flying out of Buffalo on an early-ish flight (7:30) in May as well and driving from Toronto...was just looking last night at the parking options and wondering when to book a shuttle for, this thread helps a lot!

The only time I have ever had a line up at the Buffalo airport was during the Ontario March break, super crazy but any other time it is fine I would think 4:30 is early enough. So much more relaxed then flying out of Toronto.
