60th Anniversary - What am I missing if I go next year instead?

We've been to DL every 2 years since 2008, so if we continue that trend we would go again in summer 2016.

Are all the special 60th anniversary shows, parades etc.. for this year only or are they just new shows that will continue on instead of the old shows?

What exactly would I be missing out on if I went next summer vs this summer?

(I do know there is always the chance of DL switching to Fastpass+, which would really cramp our style, but that doesn't need to be discussed here.)

TIA,

No one knows at this point how long the 60th anniversary celebration will last (the best guess is through at least the first quarter of 2016). I think the new fireworks (Disneyland Forever), new parade (Paint the Night), and new World of Color will remain for several years. Remember....Dreams Come True Fireworks debuted for the 50th and remained the standard fireworks show until last year. Disney doesn't design new major nighttime entertainment and have it only last a short period unless it's a disaster (e.g., Light Magic). The only show that might cycle more quickly is World of Color because it seems pretty easy to change that show...still I think the current version will last a while. I don't have a sense of how long the Diamond Mad T Party will last, but I think that as long as it remains popular some version of it will be around in 2016. They tried replacing it with Freeze the Night this winter and I don't think it was terribly successful. So I would anticipate/hope that Mad T Party remains through much of 2016 (unless they come up with something new).

In terms of the other 60th Anniversary offerings (e.g., the food, the merchandise, etc.), I think those things might end before summer 2016. Likewise, the decor might also come down before next summer. Ultimately, the short answer is that we don't really know how long the 60th anniversary celebration will last, nor do we know what elements will extend beyond the official end of the celebration.

For me, it's the sentimentality of saying I was there. My first trip to Disney was in 1990 and they were celebrating 35 years, and I still have my ears from that trip that say 35 Years of Magic. I think that's pretty neat. ;)

I'm planning on going back next February, so it's kind of nice to think that some of the 60th anniversary stuff still might be going on then.
