$600 to upgrade

I'm not sure how being in a deluxe or a moderate is going to be so much better. Everyone is in the same room, there is still only one bathroom, and there are no kitchenette facilities. If I had two kids and my dh was traveling with me, I would probably pay to upgrade to a suite...just to have that second bathroom and the kitchenette!! The ability to put the kids to bed and then go to my own room and chat or watch tv? Priceless.
I love the moderates and deluxes. I own DVC at both BLT and BWVs. But, if I was going with three other people, I wouldn't be staying in a studio..even with the kitchenette set up!!!
Yes, the amenities are nicer at moderates and deluxes, but with the two kids being the ages they are, I would think that the theming at AoA would be a perfect fit!!! There is plenty of time to stay at more upscale resorts, as the kids get older. Just my opinion.

Right Along the lines of my initial thinking and that separation of space for late night TV time. Also with the kids ages - we can do upscale resorts when they can appreciate that more. I read a post ( somewhere ) where a child told the parent that they wanted to stay at one of the all stars instead of their Deluxe for that trip! I'd die.

And yes, the extra bathroom sounds sooooo goooood!

I wouldn't spend that on AoA, I'd look for a deal on a moderate or even a deluxe, you could most likely find one for less than the amount of the upgrade. I just can't see paying the prices at AoA for a value resort, even for a suite.

This was my thought exactly. As a family of 5 an extra bathroom has never been necessary for us and the thought of paying $600 more mainly for a little space and another bathroom just wouldn't be worthwhile. Particularly, if I'm still at a value resort. But I would definitely consider it if I was jumping to a mod or deluxe. In fact OP a mod is likely cheaper than a suite anyhow. I know for our family it always has been the cheapest option.

With 3 little ones of my own I find the feel of the mods and deluxes are just an incredibly nice break from the hustle and bustle of the parks and well worth the extra price. A bathroom I wouldn't care about in the least certainly for that amount of money. But for the queen beds over the doubles, little bigger and nicer room, nicer pool, sit down restaurant and general quiet relaxing feel I would happily pay more. And with deluxes the locations can be well worth the upgrade as well. Roasting marshmallows on the beach at BC or hanging out on a hammock on the beach at CBR. Watching the fireworks from the beach at night. Extra dining and entertainment options depending on the resort. All well worth it.

Everyone has different priorities of course but for our family we very much prefer a room at a mod or deluxe whenever possible.

Agreed. The other consideration is that a moderate (still cheaper than a value suite, mind you), will have a nice waterslide that the kids will enjoy. None of the values have waterslides. If you'll be traveling in swimming weather, that's something to keep in mind.
