Excellent interview with Captain Sullenberger and his crew on Sixty Minutes. I think that CBS could have done better than Katie Couric but Sully absolutely shown. I found it particularly dramatic when his family was reading "fan mail" to him. He teared up. It was evident that his concern went beyond himself and to every soul aboard his plane. I was impressed with the rest of the crew although I was a bit ambivalent about the flight attendant in the back of the plane. She almost seemed angry to me, although I could be reading that wrong. Thoughts?

I did not get to see the show; I forgot it was going to be on.

However, that pilot did an incredible job. That plane lost it's engines somewhere above my neighborhood - my husband was home and heard the explosion when the engines got hit. He did not see the plane; when he looked out the window he saw people looking up and pointing. The fact that the pilot found an open space to land that plane and save everybody's lives on board AND keep people on the ground from being killed is amazing! :goodvibes

I thought the interview was good, and enjoyed finally hearing him speak out.
He is a man of few words..but when he speaks... he is direct and honest. I especially liked that he was honest and said he didn't have time to think of anything other than getting the plane down. He sounded confident that he would be able to land it in the Hudson. His mind went right to the mechanics of landing the plane, and not what might be going on with the passengers. By doing so he saved the lives of each person on that flight.
I was also touched by the gentlemen who lost his firefighter brother in the trade center on 9-11. He said he was thinking that his family would not be able to deal with the loss of another son.
I agree with you about the flight attendant in the rear of the plane..something was "off" with her. What I found more interesting was the response..or lack there of, by her fellow flight attendants. Something tells me...we'll be hearing about her sooner or later.

I have flown USAir alot in the past 4 years and I think I recall seeing the flight attendant with shoulder length dark hair.

Regarding the one flight attendent in the back, I think she has post tramatic stress plus she had a leg injury. Alot of people think these people just walked off the plane and went on with their lives like nothing happened, they should just be happy they survived. I think some of them will have long lasting mental issues to deal with. Even the captain said he had sleepless nights afterwards, he kept replaying it in his mind.

Are they going to be showing a rerun of this broadcast? I missed it because I was at work but would love to see it.

They are going to be on The Early Show (CBS) tomorrow, plus Larry King on Tuesday night.

You can go to CBS.com and I'm sure they will have the 60 Minutes episode to view online. It might be tomorrow night (24 hours post show), but they should have it.

Capt. Sully is an amazing guy. I was really moved by the interview. I agree about the FA who was in the back of the plane; she did seem "off," and I was saying the same thing to my husband. But when I think about it, I have to agree with a previous poster and I am sure she is suffering from PTSD and had a pretty significant physical injury so I guess we have to cut her some slack.

I was really surprised that 60 Minutes got the first interview. Matt Lauer was supposed to get it but was asked to delay because the union wanted to do a more complete investigation before the pilot spoke. ML, however, was promised that he would still get the first interview. Unless there is something I am missing, I think it's disappointing that the powers that be did not keep their word....if not for the union requesting a delay, ML would have interviewed him a week after the incident. I am not really bent about dissing the Today Show, but I do believe in keeping your word....

I might catch an interview on a different show. I haven't watched 60 minutes in decades. I'm not sure if they've changed, but they did some really underhanded hatchet jobs and decent people and companies in the past. Their reporting was so poisonously biased that I quit watching them lest I be mislead.

I really enjoyed it. What a great man. What happened was truly a miracle and he saved so many lives. His sincerity really touched me, he was so humble.:goodvibes

The crew will also be on Greta Van Sustern (sp?) on Wednesday night, Fox News.

The whole 60 minutes show is on the cbs website already- I'm watching it now!:goodvibes :goodvibes

First let me say that I am not anti-religious, but when she asked him if he "prayed", I almost lost it. I can't think of a more inappropriate question to ask someone that had about a zillion decisions to make in less than 3 minutes.

If he had put his head down to pray during that time he would be setting up a direct line to God, because that would have been his next stop. The worst part of it is that it seemed to be a recurring theme. Did you pray? Did you pray?

The flight attendant with the anger issues did seem out of sync with everyone else. I was especially intrigued by the way she said..."a passenger pushed me out of the way and opened the rear door letting water in". I think she would love to have a few words with that one. It kind of makes people taking pictures during dark rides seem pretty petty. As for her injury...I watched her walk in the place in Carolina with no limp or favoring of one leg over the other. How serious was it? Don't know, just glad it wasn't me.

I really enjoyed watching it. I saved it on the DVR because I'd like my kids to watch it too. I didn't have dry eyes watching this.

The blond FA did seem angry but I am not going to judge her as I cannot imagine what they went through. Sully rocks!

I think the blond FA's experience was very different since she was in the back of the plane. While everyone else basically said it "wasn't that bad" (the other FA's were in the front) she did say that the landing was violent....and she did say she was in the water up to her neck....terrifying for her I am certain. From watching the interview she seems to be suffering from post traumatic stress....poor thing.

I watched the interview last night and it was very touching. I think Sully and the crew will always be haunted by what happened.
