Maybe they should rename the crime because your right in it being a much more heinous crime when someone is forcibly raped. However, I do think as a society we should make legal adults responsible for not having sex with teenagers.

Absolutely! Contrary to what LuvDuke alleged, I'm in no way defending statutory rape, but I think that we have to do more than just look at the ages and say "She was raped". As you mentioned in a previous post, age of the child, the disparity of ages, what type of relationship (were they dating or was he her teacher?), etc all need to be considered.

I know Vermont has less then 600,000 people so it was no surprise to see only 2 posters from Vermont.Well I am from Vermont and I want to let you all know the people of Vermont are up in arms.All our state reps both conservative and liberal are jumping on this.It sickens everyone here.This poor little girl sentenced to a life with this tragedy.I would put money on it that the rapist had a few "friends" waiting for him in jail.Imagine guys in this same situation getting YEARS in jail.This guy waltzes in with 60 days.
I also have been laughing about labeling Vermont liberal.

Not only do they re elect Leahy and Jeffords.Also U.S. Rep Bernie Sanders the only actual socialist in the house of reps.
So please when you think of Vermont please think of maple syrup,Cabot Cheese,Green Mountain Coffee, skiing and foliage.Not the horrible judge that did this senseless sentecing.

Hopefully the other inmates will take this short sentence in their own hands and make it a death sentence.

I know that just sounds horrible but this poor child has to live with this for the rest of her life and he just gets 60 days. That is just enough time for him to sit in there and plan his next victim.

I really hope someone takes care of him while he is in jail.

Nope, not defending it at all. Just stating the obvious, i.e., that in many, if not most cases, it is in no way comparable to real rape.

Are you seriously saying that they are the same? If so, I think you might want to keep the for yourself.

You try to give some people good advice and they kick in the schwatz.

I'm not saying a damned thing because discussing the finer points of rape, statuatory or otherwise, is not something I care to get embroiled in.

Her first response was not rude, rather it questioned the logic you used to come up with your definition of 'liberals'. You then followed up by implying that she was too dense to comprehend your post. I find it somewhat ironic that you are now complaining, after you instigated the insults. Furthermore, we speak English, not Latin I'm not sure how it is in pommyland these days, but I would have thought they'd abandoned that language with the Romans

Also bear in mind that there is no longer a distinction in America between small 'l' and capital 'L' liberal. This is not Europe.

Where did I imply she was too dense? There is no point in reading something if you don't try to comprehend it but assume it is worthless because of its source.
No Latin in the US? Strange for a country whose motto was "E Pluribus Unum". I have worked for many years in the US and have heard and used Latin and Greek words and phrases countless times. You do your fellow Americans an injustice.
As for liberal/Liberal, the former is an adjective as in a liberal translation, the latter, a noun as in a follower of liberalism.

Anyway, you will be pleased to learn that we will be at our Florida home over the next few weeks (direct to Tampa not hubbing through Atlanta this time so you are in no danger of bumping into rude pommies!!) so you will have to find a different conservative punchbag until we get back.
