6 Person family in a studio?

I think the problem is less the beds and where the actual hell you put the luggage and stuff.

I don't even like the pull down beds under the TVs in studios - they seem designed to take you out on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Ahhh. I will say in our BW studio we did have a decent amount of space in the closet and there is the dresser. Plus we utilized the kitchenette area

I agree with PP asking where OP would put the luggage and stuff.

I was in a BCV studio in 2019. They got rid of the dresser in those rooms when they put in the little pull-down bed. There were still 2 drawers on either side of the TV, but they were a weird shape (20" x 8" and 9" high) which were rough inside, like the edges needed to be sanded. There was 1 night table with 2 drawers. The coffee table had 2 drawers. That was it for drawer space if you wanted to unpack.

There was a lot of stuff in the closet: vacuum (which I believe is not always in the rooms anymore), ironing board, big package with extra pillow and blanket (which OP might use), broom, big dustpan, fire extinquisher. Not much floor space available.

It's a platform bed; you couldn't store stuff under it.

If the sofa bed is pulled out, and the bed under the TV is pulled out, and there is a pack & play in use, and there are suitcases somewhere, I don't see how there would even be floor space to move through the room. Even without using a pack & play the floor space would be pretty crowded.

I was just in a BC studio. It had the murphy and a few small drawers around it and an armoire and the vacuum. This sounds really tight. The bed has no underbed storage, there's no storage on top of the armoire. Where do you put the luggage?

I guess you could fit a travel crib in the bathroom. If they bring one of the rolling ones, like they have been since Covid, that might not even work. I guess you could leave the stroller in the hall? Or in the tub? Or on the balcony?

Good news is the laundry room is really easy to get to, so maybe you don't have to pack as much.

Since they are kids it could work (especially if the 2 yr old is in a pack and play or crib, which lets the 4 year old be on the Murphy bed, the older two on the pull out couch and you as the parents on the bed). 3 kids could also easily fit on that pull out couch.
I would definitely look up some room tours though to make sure you as a family are comfortable with that
The kids and I aren’t really an issue. I’ve looked at the Poly studios and they seem large enough to fit us all and our luggage. The real consideration is will my wife be able to sleep with everyone in one room like that.

It is her vacation too, spring for the one bedroom so everyone can enjoy the trip.

I love to hear this! Are the BC studios that much smaller? We’re big pool people and SAB looks sooooooooo amazing.

I just can't imagine going to SAB with little kids. Drownings happen even with strong swimmers, and there are going to be a lot of big kids and teens there who might not notice even a kid who can swim well. My son had a near drowning just in a family member's pool, and he was in swim classes and was quite good. Stuff happens.

Try it out. Have an "everyone sleeps in the living room!" night. Or in your room so your wife at least gets the bed. Try it after taking a long hike or doing something exciting and exhausting all day.

I had missed this until someone pointed it out.

SAB is not an easy pool with kids that are not all strong swimmers. Its not a pool to play zone defense in.

  • There is no place to sit from where you can see the entire pool - and when you are in the pool its worse.
  • You can not see the entrance to the slide from where the slide meets the pool - and the entrance to the slide is out in the public area, not the pool area.
  • The toddler slide/ship area is completely separate from the main pool in terms of sight lines - or even easy accessibility
  • The middle of the main pool is the "lazy river" - but it isn't a lazy river - its deep (I can't stand there) and the current is strong.
  • It is always crowded - making it difficult to spot your kid in the crowd.
Its an amazing pool when your kids get to the "I don't need to watch them like a hawk" stage of pool independence. But at that point, mine would have rather just had a waterpark day with more variety. I went grey watching two kids at SAB when they were around 8 and 9 - and mine grew up with grandparents who lived on a lake and swim lessons starting at two. In short, its a better pool in theory than in practice.

The other thing I don't like about it is from the Villas you traipse through the lobby in your swimsuit to get to the pool. Bring a coverup that you'll want to wear walking through the Y&BC lobby.
