I am currently planning a 9 night stay next year. We will arrive the Friday after Thanksgiving. The first 3 nights are going to be at Legoland.

That leaves us 6 nights using points. We are low on points so I can do 6 nights in a studio. Have SSR booked right now as home resort. Would wait list and stalk Poly for the 6 nights at 7months.

Or should we do 2 nights in a cabin at Fort Wilderness and then 4 nights in a 1 bedroom? Again booking SSR now and stalking 1 bedroom at Kidani at 7months.

We are traveling as a family of 4. 2 kids will be 7 and 5.
As much as I love Poly, I think Fort Wilderness is perfect for their ages. We stayed at Copper Creek last month and drove over to Fort Wilderness for a day. They had a blast! Playground, archery, pony rides. Would love to rent a golf cart and see the decoration.
On the other hand, why pay $$$ when I can book and studio and not switch?

I always request ground level so the kids can easily open the sliding door to run around on the grassy area. Recently my ground level BLT opened to the courtyard on pool side and was surprised to discover a pool table and one of those large Connect 4 and Chess game sets. It was nice to sit outside and keep an eye on them for safety.
And they loved the nightly Electric Water Pageant.

I would do a poly studio. Poly has monorail access and walking distance to the TTC, so you can easily get to EPCOT or magic. You can have fun visiting the other monorail resorts. Poly studio has two showers and two sinks, and would easily fit your family of 4. Changing rooms with young kids would be a pain. I agree they’d probably love fort wilderness, so I say eat at trails end for breakfast or dinner and let the kids play on the play ground before or after and do pony rides the too.

Personally I really wouldn't want to stay in a studio with kids. I would likely look for a point transfer to purchase to fill in the point gap to get to a 1BR for the whole stay.

Honestly, that week you are likely to be unable to switch to a studio on points.

This is definitely true. I don’t really want to do a studio at SSR for 6 nights. Poly I can do bc it’s the Poly.
I do have an obsession with stalking though. We stayed in a 2 bedroom at Copper Creek this year after Thanksgiving, a studio at GFV this coming Princess Weekend for the 10k. I have no problem stalking to find what I’m looking for. It seems like most things become available at some point if you are willing to piece together day by day. If not, we are perfectly happy at SSR, but maybe I’ll book a 1 bedroom with FW before just in case the stalking doesn’t work.

For me it depends on how much you're in the room. My kids are 4 and 8 and we just did a studio at BRV. We weren't in the room all that much and a studio was fine. When they're older we'll start booking the 1 bedrooms but right now studios work for us. Our next trip starts at Poly so my vote is to try and book there.

I would not do the 4/2/4. Unless you are the type of family that travels with a backpack for everything, that's a lot of time packing / unpacking.

I have done 2 and plan for 3 split. But it's my DH and I.

Because as you just said, They had a blast. It is a vacation and you all want to have fun.

Having the extra space of the one bedroom would be very nice, as is the kitchen and washer/dryer if you want it. Hang out at the pools on your change day.

You should be able to switch to Poly. There are so many studios and it does pop up.

6 nights is too long anywhere for me anyway. I'd want to do the split stay. I'd book the SSR as 2 or 3 reservations, so you can play with it when things open up.

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up booking us in a standard BWV studio for 2 night and then 4 nights at SSR in a 1 bedroom.
Will try to play around with it at 7months. SSR is broken up with 2/2 nights to make it easier to play with.

This let’s us stay without paying any extra $$$ and breaks up the trip. I know the kids would love Fort Wilderness but they have also never been to BWV. They have seen videos of the pool and the skyliner so will enjoy that too. None of us have seen the Epcot resorts during the holidays. Hopefully we can try Toppolinos and check out Riviera.

I just have a hard time spending $1200 on FW when that money can go in the DVC add on fund. (🤫 DH doesn’t know it yet but I’m hoping to get another 50pts in a year or so.)
