Need suggestions. I have reservations for my family of 4 at AKL Savannah room. My family consists of my wife, 3 yr old son, 5 yr old daughter, and me. We have just found out that my 16 yr old sister in law and my 15 yr old niece are able to go with us. We all went together 2 years ago and stayed in the same room at the poly. We had plenty of room on that trip. We have just found out that they will not allow us to all stay in the same room, now that the youngest one counts as a child. My selfish reaction is that I am being punished for not lying about my childs age. We are going on the VISA special, so he is going free anyway. What should I do? What can I do?

You might try a cabin at Fort Wilderness. They sleep six. It also has a full kitchen (if you need it.) Hey, it's even cheaper than the POLY.

If I were you, I would either move to a moderate and ger 2 connecting rooms. or can you swing AKL for another room? If it's going to be children only in the other room, They are supposed to guarantee a connecting room for you. If you could get an AP rate. Its about 132 for the standard view room, right now. Through the 20th of december or somewhere close to it. I have 4 kids and myself. 2, 3 year olds, 1 DS9 and dd16. And I have to tell you there is no way we could swing a regular hotel room together. DD16 bunks in with Nana, if she didn't we would not hesitate to go for a 2nd room. good Luck!

....So long as you have some appreciation for the rustic theme, and are not set on the grand hotel experience. The cabins are a relatively inexpensive on-site deal for 6. Plus the kitchen and the slightly roomier accommodations, the barbeque, the easy access to biking, canoeing, and other recreation can make this a pleasant experience, if you're so inclined. Only concerns are (1) I would not recommend staying there without a car, because it is not connected by monorail and is a bit out of the way; and (2) the 2 younger kids would be sleeping on bunkbeds--that's either a great draw or a real drawback.

My sense is that you would be really cramped in the Poly with six, and you would certainly notice the keen competition for the bathroom among the five members of the prettier persuasion.

I would say try to get a cabin or even rent points from a DVC member for larger accommodations. You will be much more comfortable - even if you don't spend a lot of time in the room.

Good luck!!

Even if they would let you, I can't imagine six people of any age in a room at AKL. It is our favorite resort, but the rooms are MUCH smaller than the rooms at the Poly and you do not have a day bed unless you are in a deluxe room (which still isn't a large as the Poly rooms). Our family of five (and some times six) uses two connecting rooms, which they will guarantee with minor children and then you have two bathrooms which is a definate plus with teens.

Good luck!
