Our family of 5 will be visiting 10/11-10/18.

I was planning on going to US/IOA for 6 days ( 3 days each park)

We will have FOTL for 2 days.

Is this too much time at the parks? Should I budget for other non US/IOA/City Walk things?

My kids really enjoy amusement parks, so I think we need at least 2 days in each park, but now I am doubting 3 days...

I think 3-4 days would be plenty of time to do each park. One day for each and a repeat day for the favorites plus a day to just hang out at the pool (weather permitting of course). You might want to consider Sea World and/or Aquatica in that time frame as well.

Our family love US and IOA as much as Disney but 4 days should be plenty. We usually do one day at each and one split day and find that it is just about enough although the we would probably do one more day but don't have time as we also do 6 Disney days, one at Seaworld, one at Busch gardens, and this year we are also doing Nasa for the first time and go for an airboat ride at Boggy Creek. We'll need another holiday when we get home to rest up.:)

Donn't want to be a thread killer, but I heard they closed down the Boggy Creek airboat tour.I could be wrong tho.Might want to check into this:confused3

On a lighter note, there is plenty to do.Check out the other resorts and the shopping, restuarants.PBH has a beautiful art gallery,we spent almost 2hrs. checking it out Beautiful artwork if you got the money>they were one that I wanted so bad,but it cost$2500 for it.IF ONLY,it would look beautiful on my wall!!!

I am not sure what type of tickets you have pruchased (and if you have bought them yet) but you might want to consider the 7 day ticket (from the US web site) that includes US, IOA as well as Wet and Wild. For us, 2 days at US, 2 days at IOA and 2 days at Wet and Wild, plus one day to chill is plenty.

I think 4 days is more than enough to see everything and still have plently of time to relax. I love Universal, but start to get bored by day 4.

We have done Universal and IOA in one day before and go on all the rides, so I think 6 days is overkill, id say even one full day at each park is enough, two max..

I am here now. We are staying five nights and it is too long. Of course, I knew that when I booked the trip, (we've been here before) but went with five nights because I wanted to make the trip worth our while and we have the two-park, seven consecutive day tickets. Of course, we had rain on Thursday and Friday. Went to Universal on Friday in the rain and did everytning we wanted to do (we have FOTL). Yesterday, we went to Islands of Adventure (it wasn't raining - YAY!) and got it all done there, as well. I am with my 21 year old DS and his DGF. I went back to the hotel in the middle of the day, but they stayed until late afternoon.

We have two more days before we go home. We will go back to the parks, of course, but we don't need all this time. The hotel is very relaxing and I'm glad we're here, but six days in the parks would be way too much in my opinion.

We are going to Downtown Disney today. Need to change the scenery a little. :goodvibes

I think four days would be perfect for your family.

I guess I'm the odd man out...

Our first trip was 5 nights and we didn't get to do and see everything. Of course, we took our sweet time...and this was with FOTL, lol. Last trip we had 3 nights. One day for each park and the third day for favorites--had until 2pm that day. Not enough time, IMHO. We also take manditory afternoon pool breaks (manditory for DS who is a fish and Dh who likes to relax with a beer pool side). These breaks are "okay," but I can only stand about an hour and I am antsy to go back to the parks. ADD will do that to you, lol. I really don't enjoy sitting around.

This next trip, we are staying at the HRH for 7 nights in Feb. We could easily spend the entire time at UO! But we are spending one day at Discovery Cove and one day at Sea World. And I am nervous that we won't get to everything... This time I want to do a few rides in the regular queque...to see all the neat stuff I've been reading about.

I guess, to each his own. For us, 3 or 4 days just isn't enough! You will be fine with 6 days, especially with only having FOTL for 2 of those. Enjoy, see it all...no commando touring...

I normally do both parks in one day sometimes without FOTL pass, granted thats off season without the pass. But then again we are always there and know the parks very well which helps. If its your first time then I would say 4 days at the parks would give you enough time to check evrything out at a slow pace, take in the moment. Then gives you and extra day to enjoy the resort.:thumbsup2

Not enough time IMHO--at Universal you don't need to go to commando like at Disney--you can slow down at Universal :thumbsup2

Thanks, I'll have to investigate that. I have sent them 2 e.mails that I haven't had answers to athough their web page is still up. I'll look for alternatives just in case you are right.

We just did 5 nites/6 days in July
Now, we did take one day to go to the Magic Kingdom and it was perfect
we had plenty of pool time, we stayed at the HRH again
We did things we never did before, like The Horror Show (loved it)

have fun!

We usually do 5-6 nights. We only do the parks a couple of hours each day. We don't get up early -- we have leisurely meals -- we shop off site and spend lots of time just hanging out as a family.

We spent 6-7 days between the two parks in August 2007 and I thought it was just enough time (we were there for 16 days and I can't remember if it was 6 or 7 days). We saw/did everything in the two parks and were able to take our time and enjoy our experiences. We rode our favorites several times. It also gave us plenty of time to rest in between, have leisurely meals and enjoy our pool time. There were 9 of us and we all agreed it was one of the best trips we've taken because we allowed for so much down time instead of rushing to get everything in.

We go several times a year and our shortest stay has been 5 nights. We usually go for 7-8 nights. We currently have an eight night stay planned for November.

We don't get bored at all. But we also don't spend our whole time in the parks. We sleep in, wander around the parks, eat leisurely meals, do some pool time, maybe head over to KSC for a day, shop, etc.

Since you only have 2 days of FOTL, I think it perfect. For the days you spend off-site, you can spend half days in the parks and then go explore Orlando a bit.

:thumbsup2

I will start budgeting for non IOA/US days.

We have the 7 day (non Wet&Wild) tix.

1 day we will go to Downtown Dis -- DD HAS to go to BBB - so we will make that whole day a non IOA/US.

DH is pushing for Kennedy Space Center -- Not sure it is worth the $ for our family -- I really hate spending $ to hear kids complain they are bored.

We were there in June with our 5 yo twins and we did the 7 Day Unlimited and it was great. We are not the types to only experience a ride or attraction one time, we love doing them over and over again. It was nice to have that much time between the two parks and not feel like you were killing yourself to get it all done. We arrived each morning at opening, stayed until about 2PM, went back to the hotel (Nick Hotel) and then returned around 6PM each evening feeling refreshed and ready to experience the rides and attractions after dark. Being there the week before the 4th of July, we were suprised at the small crowds, but hey, it was good for us. So, don't worry about too much time, to me there is never enough time away from work with the family just doing fun things together.
