6 days out what happens if I cancel to change reports

Hi I hope someone can help me. Today is the 22 and my trip is the 28th. if I cancel my reservation online to rebook a different resort that now has availability will i be able to use the points from the cancelled reservation to book the new one...same dates. I have never changed this late in the game but availability just came up

also there is a 13 point difference do i just loose those 13 points?

I would not try something like that online!
Wait till 9 am and call MS, that way you can make sure the available room is held while they cancel your existing room.
They'll also know exactly what you're allowed to do.
I would only use the online system for simple, straight forward reservations.

thanks Lauren, that is what my gut tells me but I have been waiting for this to come available for 3 months .....don't want it to be gone

The remaining 13 points will be returned to your account as "Holding Points". They can still be used to make reservations, but only for dates within 60 days of arrival. They will expire at the end of your current Use Year and cannot be banked.

I would definitely call MS to handle this situation as it's possible to lose both reservations if you do it online since you'll need to cancel the existing one before reserving the new one. MS can assist and hold the new reservation while canceling the existing one.

I've switched resorts within 7 days of arriving, but would only do it by phone so the CM could move the points. I even kept the same reservation number. I went online and saw what was available and called quickly and it worked for me. Good luck.

Not all Advisers have the ability to hold inventory so discuss this with them before you book.
