6/7/11 - It's a double dip DREAM!

OK - I found the latest update. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like there's only 14 rooms participating plus 2 questionables. My calculations may be WAY off here, but I'm reading 24 adults, 6 teens, & 13 children. (not counting the ?s) Anybody care to take a second look/guess?

Looks like you are correct, but we have about 6 months left. From what I saw on our cruise last month, we had alot of people joining in in the last 3 months. I think the person running it cut it off at 1 month before cruise time.

do we have a head count of who's participating in ours? I think if we can get an educated guess of how many, then we can decide to do all one group, split it up, one per room, kids, and so on. I've also seen where others have had a cut off day. Do we want to do this? :confused3

I'm all for having a cut off date and my personal opinion is a for a cut more than a month away from the cruise. That's prime All-Star baseball season and my craft time is going to be next to nil. I would like to avoid bringing an additional suitcase just for gifts so if we were up to 65 rooms, I would have to split it up or I would have to drop out. :hippie:

I agree about the cut off date. We should make 2-3 months before our cruise. As far as I can see our cruise is sold out and all GTY rooms should be assigned.

We still haven't clarifed how we are managing this. I know many of us want to get started on this during the winter months.

Are we doing a gift per stateroom, per child? Are we doing everyone in the stateroom? Fourteen staterooms are manageable but I'm not able to do a gift for each person. Maybe for those staterooms without children, 1 gift per couple? For staterooms with children, each child get a gift?

Let me know what you think.

Joan

uh hem, 5 months...let's not make it any longer! ;)

That's more what I was thinking. I like to keep a head count, because I personally am thinking of doing a gift per room plus gifts for kids, but if that number gets too high, then I may have to back it down to just one per room.

I'm so excited! :hyper:

That sounds reasonable to me.

Not that it affects the cut off, we are GTY still and have not been assigned a room yet. I am in agreement about one gift per room should be fine.

:)

Hey, everyone! I am absolutely new here!

We are ready for our first Disney cruise! Party of 5, two rooms! We told the kids for Christmas and the suspense was killing me. Any time we'd see anything Disney related, I was ready to burst into tears! ;) But now it's all out in the open and the kids are beside themselves.

What is everyone planning for this trip? We've never been and I need some tips! It would be great to connect with people before - I love that this forum exists!

It will be my DH and I, our 14 year old son, 10 year old son, and 3 year old daughter. Let the fun begin! :)

Mrswarr.....my boys will be 15 and 12. We should hook them up beforehand or at least once we get on board!!! This is our 5th cruise. We always come in a couple days early and stay at the Radisson.

Great idea! My oldest son will turn 15 in August and my younger son will turn 11 the day AFTER we get off the ship! :) We'll be in WDW, though, so it will still be fun.

Would LOVE to hook them up. We're coming in the 6th and staying at the Country Inn (is that the radisson?! It might be!). I'm so excited! Now, I need to get to the bottom of this fishing thing and the door magnets. Any advice?!

I would love for my boys to meet some other boys once on board ( we are doing back 2 back cruises so we will already be on the boat). We did that on our last cruise and our boys found a group of kids ( ends up they were mostly girls) that they hung out with the entire time. I have one boy who also turns 15 in August and one who will be 12 ( also will have a 16 and 18 year old). My older ones all kind of hang out together, but my 12 year old really would like to meet a friend!

Great! My little guy would love it, too! So, our boys are the same ages - now if you only had a 3 year old daughter, we'd be all set! ;)

:)

We're GTY, too. I check almost daily to see if we've been assigned yet. If nothing else, surely (Shirley ;) ) we'll get one in March.

Great, Kelly! We're all set! My daughter will be nearly 4 when we set sail.
What does GTY mean? We do already have room numbers - does it have to do w/that?
What is this gift giving thing you all are discussing?

DS is 12 and would love to meet and hang out w/ other boys his own age. :thumbsup2

This is called Fish Extender or FE for short. Outside the staterooms are "Fish" clamps for notes, etc. People that participate in the FE, make pocket type holders to hang from the "Fish". People in the group leave gifts for them in the FE.

This is kind of like a "Secret Santa" exchange. Everyone that participates gives and received gifts.

If you look at the top of this forum under the *** DIS DCL FAQ - New Alphabetical Listing of DCL Information ***
you will find details and instructions for making a FE. However, some people buy theirs off of sites like e-bay.

Hope info helps.

Thank you!!! I'm having one made! How does one join the group? Someone, count me in! I'm going to Oriental Trading right now to find some fun toys! Do you know who is in charge?

Hi Everyone!

We are DH, DW, and DD14 and will be sailing along with you on that gorgeous new ship! We've been watching the dream come to life for 2 years now! We absolutely cannot wait to explore every deck! This will be DCL #7 for us

Is there a Fish Extender team set up yet? Please count us in if there is. We've done this on 5 of our cruises and it's just so much fun to see what appears each day in our FE! DH and I also love playing FE fairy as we do our deliveries and try not to get caught!
