ok, here's my 2 cents on the FE gifts - I think each person should do whatever they are comfortable with. By that I mean, if I want to give 1 gift per cabin, that's fine. Or if I want to get all the adults in each cabin a gift, and all the kids too, that's fine also. Even if the gifts are small, the cost adds up with so many cabins participating. And some people don't have the time to think of or buy a lot of different gift, and some won't have the space to pack them. We don't want anyone to not participate because its become too expensive, time-consuming or confusing. If some cabins end up with more gifts, or fewer gifts, does it really matter? We are only doing this as a way to make the cruise more fun, add some extra surprises, and as a way to get to know each other.

Agreed. I think most of us have felt this way. I know because we have been trying to keep it flexible it can add to the confusion. I have seen posts in threads where someone may give all the kids a piece of candy or a sticker. I know my DS and even myself will be excited to just have something in our pockets irregadless of what or how much it is. Some people may give more and some less.

Ok first this quote thing is driving me nuts!!!! None of the quotes are quoting the right people!

My undersding was that you gave something small to EACH Child participating in the FE and something small to EACH Cabin participating in the FE, and that we were going to draw a name at the DIS Meet at 3:00 to give the 1 gift representing our hometown too.

Therefore we have 40 kids participating, 26 cabins and 1 DIS Meet Exchange.

Ok, I am fine with this. Are we really counting 19 yo's as children??? Or should I say 21 yo's

WOW I don't know if you are driving or flying but we can't pack that much stuff extra nor take back due to we are flying and that would be like an extra bag itself.

Think of something thats small and inexpensive. Really I think my kids will get more of a kick out of delivering the gifts to the fish extenders - a chance to be like Santa, then they will get out of anything they receive. Even a piece of candy I think is a suitable gift (and you don't have to carry it home!).... in otherwords the fun is in the giving and the suprise not in the gift.

Way off current topic. Question: anyone that has stayed at the swan/dolphin before.. do they have disney transportation to down town disney? I read on the resort board that they don't have the 'magical express'. Is this really the case?

What no power at the school? What is going on?
Also Thanks so much for doing this and a question. Are we trying to do a gift for everyday or every other or once? What are the guide lines for this because I want to make sure to do the same amount for whoever does one for us.

I know!! Isn't it crazy about the power issue, they are doing construction and a contractor must have hit a power line.

I think everyone will just pick their own day to do their gifts. We didn't want to assign people on certain days, so just pick any day that you want.

I am so confused.

We have always done it where we bought a gift for each cabin/family. Basically give 25 gifts and in return get 25 gifts back??? Are we not doing it that way? We also have done a Secret Mickey where you were assigned someone and you bought them a special gift without letting the person know who you were till the end. Is that more like what we are doing????

Way off current topic. Question: anyone that has stayed at the swan/dolphin before.. do they have disney transportation to down town disney? I read on the resort board that they don't have the 'magical express'. Is this really the case?

Sorry to be a pain!
When I called to book the room, I was told our transfer's we paid for would take us to the hotel. Was I told something wrong? Sorry, I'm confused, would that not be the magical express?

OK all- let's get this FE thing figured out:


I will be giving a small gift to all of the kids(within age- probably 16 and below).

I will also be giving each cabin a gift- so 26(or25- not counting mine)gifts.

Everyone can give however many gifts they want on whatever day, if you want to do a cabin gift- OK, if you want to do just kids- OK, or only adults- OK too.

I don't want it to be complicated, or the fun taken out of it, so everybody can just give what they can, I think it's all in fun anyway. I know alot of people fly, and with luggage restrictions these days, I know it can be a hassle.

Everyone can do what they can.

It looks like with the exchange it would be easy to lets say for example. We have DS age 6 and DS age 9. And for those just exchange with one of the other age DS 6 year old and other DS 9 year old. Because it will not matter if there is an even or odd number because eveyone can just have someone else. Because I don't think we have any ages where there is just 1 and if so then just add them to the age group and sex that is closest to them.
This way it is simple and we can just worry about buying for same ages ,etc that we have. And can worry about names later.
That was the way it was done on the last cruise that had it.

You are not off topic. Any topic here is fine and us crazies are just so happy that the cruise day is getting closer so we are all a little crazy!
But onto your question. I can answer this one.
Here is the thing. S&D- once you are there they use the same bus ( meaning for the parks and downtown Disney)that Disney uses and even says it on the bus stops. But here is where it is different they do not do the free magical express to and from the airport BUT they do the transfers to and from the boat. I know it doesn't make sense but there you have it. when you are talking about bus and transfers.

Stephanie - MY DCL tansfers will get me from the Airport to the Swan right? Then we can take Disney Transportation to DTD and the Poly to watch the ele water parade that night right? And then DCL wil be picking us up at The Swan in the morning to go to port right?

I have DCL transfer for one-way only!! Will that get me from the airport to hotel to port?!?!

I had sooo many people twisting my arm to use DCL to the port.

I know I'm excited for this cruise, I can't stand it. Steve and I looked through my Disney binder for the trip this evening- so now he's even getting more excited!! OK- I'm getting off of here, so I can work on the spreadsheet.
