5k Castaway Cay

an someone please confirm process now fro the 5k. I know how it used to be but understand changes have occurred.
I thought I had read that you no longer sign up, you just show up and get the lanyard later? What is given to show you completed it if this is true? Anyone with specifics they could share would be appreciated so we’re not running around trying to figure it out once on board. Thanks in advance.

The start is near the bike rental station and there will be signs showing the direction of the 5k.

It's on the honor system and you get a rubber "medal".

You don't have to show anything at all, they trust you. We ran it in reverse despite the signs which I much preferred since it was OYO; we did the out and back on the runway to get it out of the way, then did the shadier two loops.

That’s a good idea to change it up. To me the circle part gets old as there’s nothing to see. So it’s true you get your rubber medal back on the boat? I don’t care if it’s rubber, I appreciate all of mine!!

After the run, you get the medal at the bike rental station. Just let them know you’ve completed the 5K.

I was just going to say this! I am always a sweaty mess when I get back to the bike rental shack!

In Jan I left right when the gangway opened and there was a fair amount of runners and walkers doing the same thing

In December I was waiting in line as people were renting bikes, not a bad wait five minutes or so, but even with that cool down I stepped up and the cast member said, “Can I help… oh you ran the 5k, here’s your medal.”

Wait, wait? We weren't able to dock at CC a couple weeks ago on the Wish (yes I was on that cruise, lol). I was bummed because I wanted to do the CC 5K and get the new medal. I had no idea you could do it on the ship. How did you find out you could do that, was it listed in the app?

As this is the most recent 5K thread, thought I’d bump to ask:

Is still a hot mess at Castaway for shirts, specifically the 5K? Did mine last summer, got the medal, but I wanted to buy a shirt. Selection was craptastic and had been. Anyone been recently?

When we went in February, we looked at the shirts at the end of the day and I had no problem buying 2, in different sizes. Back on the ship when I had cleaned up I tried them on and was able to return the one that I didn't want. I verified that was allowed before I did it.

Mental note for next time lol there were definitely some cute shirts in January but I was too gross to try them ended up getting the headband at the store by the bike rental than at the other gift shop they had a smaller selection of 5k items and got a pin

In April, they had a nice dri fit, I did it shirt, at the shop near the bike rental. My husband and I each bought one. That was my 4th time doing the 5K but the first time they had a dri fit, not a cotton tshirt.
