We are going in Jan and not on the DDP. We just don't eat a lot. My question is do you think I still need to make a reservation at a restaurant like 50's Prime to eat dessert? It wouldn't be probably until around 2 or 3 when we would eat. But we want to experience the atmosphere there without the full meal. Thanks.

I would still make the reservation. You being on the dining plan or not doesn't make any difference on how full the restaurant is going to be or how your reservation is handled.

The reason I recommend making the reservation is because it sounds like you know where you want to eat and there's a reason for it (the experience). With the reservation, there is no doubt you will get in for when you want.

Now, if you don't want to be committed to a reservation and you don't care one way or another if you do eat there, then you don't have to make a seating time.

You should always make a reservation at any sit down restaurant if you are planning on getting in. They do book up and it can be very difficult to get in without a reservation. Have fun - we love the S'mores at 50's Prime Time :thumbsup2

I agree with the others. If there is someplace you want to eat you should make an ADR. Being on the DDP has nothing to do with it. The restaurants fill up and you may not be able to get in without an ADR
Have a Great Trip

OP,
I've been wondering the same thing. I'd love to see the inside of the restaurant, but I'm not interested in the antics or most of the menu. Comfort food isn't my thing. A quick dessert would be perfect. I just hate to take an ADR away from someone wanting an entire meal. I think we'll try to walk-in at an off time someday. It does sound as though you really want to eat there though. It's not that important to us. In your situation, you may want to go ahead & make an ADR. We already have 2 ADRs for our day at DHS. I suppose that's our fair share. :p

My understanding is that you can order any item from the 50's menu in their bar, the Tune In Lounge. That might be an option for you if you'd rather play it by ear and not be tied to an ADR time. I'm living dangerously and planning to try lunch at the bar for my trip in Oct...

if you want to eat at 50s (either a meal or just desserts) make the ressie!
