Could you please tell me more about 50's Prime Time? The food, any reviews, are there antics involved? How embarassing do they tend to be?
Thanks!

It's a great place. It's good food & great fun. A don't miss place.

The food is decent. I've had the meatloaf, pot roast, pot pie, and fried chicken there on prior visits; I liked the chicken best. The meals are huge, plenty of food. They have the best dessert at WDW, the smores. Love it.

The antics are hit and miss. We have never had an over the top server; we've always pretty much been left alone. I have seen them at other tables though and it can be embarrassing. I watched this young man on his honeymoon get tortured one night because he stuck his vegetables in his mashed potatoes to avoid eating all of them and he ended up so embarrassed I thought he was going to cry. :rotfl:

50's Prime Time is lots of fun! :thumbsup2 This past time we had a strict server who promptly informed us of the rules:

No elbows on the table
Eat ALL of your veggies
Clean your plate or no dessert

He was sooo funny! My 5 year old daughter didn't finish her meatloaf and he said to take a bite or else finish Dad's green beans! It was all in good fun and not done rudely. After he served us dessert, we all stuck our elbows on the table when we thought he wasn't looking. Well he saw us and said "hey, I saw that!"

We really enjoyed the food here too so much so we ate twice here in the same trip this February. The chicken sandwich is delish and my hubby and kids all had the meatloaf and said it was scrumptious! I love the retro 50's look to the whole restaurant too...we sat at old fashioned formica tables with a t.v. that showed lots of black and white sitcoms, commercials and Mickey's Clubhouse clips. It was lots of fun! Oh, they also give you a view finder to see the dessert menu. We'll go again for sure! :goodvibes

I think my mom would love this! It would also be nice to have extra help getting my DD5 (6 by then) to eat!

My favorite thing to eat is the Meatloaf and the only other thing I had is the Stacked Sandwich which is also good. As for funny things the servers do this past December I went there for dinner with 3 of my friends who are from Orlando and one of them did not finish all their Vegetables, so our server took his fork and fed him making an airplane sound which was very funny.

We enjoyed it. When we first sat down, my DH (then my bf) was asked if he washed his hands. He said yes. The server asked what color the soap was and DH made something up. She marched him to the restroom to wash up.

Then my sisters didn't eat their green beans (they hate beans) and the server took it away and came back with the green beans covered in whipped topping and told them, "There's your dessert - a green bean sundae"

And lastly my sister did something and I tattled on her. So *I* got put in the middle of the room on a stool and my entire room yelled, "SHAME ON YOU!" to me.

GREAT FUN! And the food was good too!

We went there this past Dec.all 5 of us and the food was delish!!:thumbsup2 The meatloaf is what my daughter gets every time so it must be good!! My son got chicken pie and he said it was great!!! :) Of course I was the one who didn't finish my plate and got fed by the waitress making airplane noises!!!:lmao: A little embarrassing :blush:but after the redness in my face cooled down I have to admit it was blast!! Of course a memory that will linger in my kids minds forever and let me tell you they never let me forget it!! :rotfl: Watching the clips of the different 50's TV shows on the old fashioned 50's TV"s was a hoot!! I'm sure you will have a great time!! :woohoo:

I'm 55 years old now. I've been at this restaurant more times then I can count, and I have never, Never, NEVER had a bad meal here ! And as for "being embarassed"... well, only every time I've been there ! I guess they just see it in my face when I walk in the door... and I couldn't be happier ! It's all good fun and that IS WHAT DISNEY IS ALL ABOUT ! On my honeymoon, on my anniversary, with a different wife (but a previous server that actually remembered me and my kids - boy did I get "hammered" for that one !). I wouldn't miss WDW for love nor money... and I wouldn't go to WDW without stopping at "50's Prime-Time Cafe'"... don't miss it !

I thought that this would be a really fun place for our family, but we did not like this place. Our waitress kept scolding a very small child at the table next to us by yelling "NO whining in here" The child could not have been more than two, and my kids were bothered by it. There were other tables that seemed to have more friendly, fun waitresses, but ours bordered on obnoxious. I think it's really hit and miss here. My husband and kids actually ate quickly and left while I waited for the bill. We have been to WDW 9 times, so it's not like we are not used to Disney entertainment, but this was not our thing. In addition, it is extremely busy in here at lunch time, so it is very crowded, and service was slow. We were on the DP, and ate at 7 TS restaurants and this was the only one that got the thumbs down.

The food is pretty good, but the experience is the reason to come here.

However, I have noticed that the "entertainment" is not consistent. Most of the time you get a server who is happy to be in character, but sometimes you don't. When I get that, then I feel like I just got an overpriced, and just okay meal.

When I go, I want someone telling me to get my elbows off the table, and to chew with my mouth closed and to eat my greens and to say thank you and your welcome and to put me in the corner if I don't. That's the game and it's all in good fun. I think you have to come in expecting to play your part, too. The interaction and participation is what makes it fun.

If that sounds like it is not for you, I'd skip this place, but for me, it's a can't miss when I'm in Disney World.

It's one of our favorite resturants. We love the theming and atmosphere. Although as others have stated, the antics seem to be hit and miss lately. Still a very enjoyable resturant none the less.

Do all the tables have the TV or is this a request?

Is the seating at tables or booths?

Thanks!

There's not a spot in the restaurant where you can't see a TV. Mostly, they're on shelves close to the ceiling. And, the restaurant is divided up into several different little dining rooms. There are booths and tables.

I've been to 50s Prime Time on my last 2 trips and its one of my favorite restaurants! I love the kitchy 50s decor and both meals I've had there have been really good... the fried chicken and chicken pot pie. Mmm! I haven't been involved in any really crazy antics..but my last trip there, Nov '08 was fun. It was someone's birthday at the table next to ours. Our server passed a birthday card around the room and we all got to sign it and then we sang happy birthday to the guy. At the same table as the "birthday boy", someone told the server they brought her the wrong pop, so they brought her a glass of all the kinds they had! She had 6 or 7 different glasses of pop on their table!
