I would love to eat here, I think the theming is great and menu mouthwatering but Ive always decided against it. Why? because of the interaction with the CM's.

I am very shy and reserved, I find things like this very embarrassing, my kids would love this but I would die!!

I get the feeling that if I tell the server that I dont want the full experience, they would pick on me all the more:rotfl: I know the whole point of the meal is the interaction but would they lay off me if I asked? or should I carry on avoiding the place.

It is good clean fun and they can tell if you don't want the full monty. Food is great and get a milkshake there, best in Disney!

I would go, enjoy, but dont say anything. They might take it the wrong way and see you being the very one who wants it. Most servers there are laid back. Only a few are over the top. The food is good, the entertainment is fun yet lighthearted. It is one of our top 3 must dos in eating at WDW.

I wouldn't say anything. They are pretty receptive to body language and demeanor from my experience. I tried to rev ours up last time and he wasn't in the mood I guess. About all he did was call us cousin. :confused3 So if it looks fun to you and you've always wanted to experience it, go for it. I hope it will be as much fun as you've always expected it to be.

my husband is the same way... but after showing him the 'food porn' of the resturant he understood why i wanted to take the kids there that and there's not to many other choices in DHS... we've been to SiFi and LOVED the theme but the food not so much at all. I have to a gree give it a try... it won't hurt i'm sure the CM would back off if they read you right.

I think I may give it a go on my next trip, although I said that of my recent trip:lmao: . I avoid lots of things at Disney for this reason, things that may get me singled out. I even get embarrassed having my photo taken with characters, but it is a must do (couldnt go home with no photos!), so I hide my blushes. I would be the person that would hate to be grand marshall in a parade etc.

I would just so love to eat at Prime Time, but knowing my luck, I would be the one having left over vegetables under my dessert:rotfl2:

I'm the same way! I wanted to try it too, but we are more of a laid back type of family. We like to watch but don't want to be involved. I worry about them making us eat our vegetables. Nobody in my family would eat the greens, that I believe come with chicken. I crossed them off my list. I think my family would love the food and the shakes, but I don't want to risk the uncomfortableness of being "picked on".

All you have to do is mention at check in that you would like a quiet server, one that won't do the antics. They get this request alot, don't worry, the food is good for home cooking!

DH and I are fairly shy people who don't really enjoy getting picked on. However, we loved Prime Time. There were several large, loud groups in the room where we were seated, so they took up much of the servers time, and we avoided doing anything that might draw unwanted attention. We just sat back and watched the action. It was a lot of fun! I think you should go. I do agree with PP who suggested requesting a quieter server if this is something that worries you.

You should eat there at least for the sake of your kids.

To stay low key, all you have to do is avoid two things:

1. keep your elbows off the table and
2. when you are giving them your order do not say "Gimme the...."

And remember one other thing. You don't know anyone there and you probably will never see anyone there again so who cares what anyone thinks.

:goodvibes

And make sure you wash your hands first so you know the color of the soap!

DH and I are very shy and don't like to be singled out either but this is one of our favorite restaurants! It is a must do everytime. We have had servers joke around with us and make comments but it was never done in a mean spirited way. It didn't make us feel humiliated. They did it in a way that made it feel like it was a friend joking around with us. It does help too when you see them joking around with the other tables and not just you. Then you don't feel so singled out. I think it is true that if they see you are more reserved they will be too.

I think the servers have a pretty good sense of who wants to play along and who doesn't. I'm a southern boy and can tell you that their fried chicken is some of the best I've eaten..

I am exactly the same way. We've always eaten there but the past few trips we've skipped it for the same reason. Glad I'm not alone. :)

We go to the Prime Time every year, and love it. I would have to say were a pretty loud family except for my oldest DD who is now 21. Back a few years ago we ate there and had a wonderful waiter, that we played along with. Well he was looking at my DDs plate and because she left her beans, he pulled up a seat next to her and announced to the whole place that Katie didnt eat her vegetables so he was going to feed her! :lmao: Well he started with the beans on the fork and made like a choo choo noise, well I just about died from laughter, my DD was dieing from embarssement and wanted to crawl under the table. After she finished her beans, he brought her a "special" dessert "on the house". We all laughed about it afterwards even after all that, it's one of her favorite places to eat. I would go their for the entertainment, the food is good as well...

Most of the servers are "relatively" quiet. I've had one that just showed us his picture album of his 'family'. But as someone else has stated just be sure to inform the front desk of your concerns before you're seated.

Go! Go! Go!

I'm not a big fan with all the hoopla but I survived and enjoyed eating there on our last trip including even Whispering Canyon Cafe. It's got good food and great atmospheres give it a try.

The food is good and the atmosphere is great... Go for Dad's brownie sundae for dessert mmm. But I would mention to the front desk that you'd like a quieter server. Ours went so far as to tell my boyfriend he needed a haircut and tell him no when he asked for a refill because he "would wet the bed!"

50's prime time is a hoot! Play along and have fun. Your "cousins" won't remember you any ways.

No but my husband will:lmao:

I will definatley try it on our next trip, so if you see a short, blonde woman under the table hiding, or fleeing the resturant, it will be me :rotfl:
