I'm trying to decide between 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi for dinner when we are at MGM. I have read mixed reviews on both, so I don't know which to do. It will be me, DH, DD8, DS5, DD2. Which do you prefer both food and atmosphere wise? Which do you think our kids would enjoy more? Thanks!

Good question. Have been wondering the same thing. We are going with our 6 & 1/2 and 3 1/2 DDs in early Dec. Trying to get our reservation preferences sorted out. Hope this thread will give us some input.

DH and I prefer the food at 50's PT (home cooked style meals). However, DS (10) loves the atmosphere at Sci-Fi and proclaims it as one of his very favorites. We usually do both each year. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

We took our son's ages 9 and 7 this past May to 50's prime time. I loved it but the boys did not get the theme. Also our waitress did not interact with us so it was not as fun. I did see other waitresses playing around with the custiomers in the other room and if we had that the boys might have found it to be more fun. I loved the food at 50's prime time but I have heard people say they did not like the food.

Next time we go we are going to try the sci fi. I think the kids would like it better.

Have fun,

Loralie :flower:

we will be going imoctober. i have 50's PT reserved but i wonder will ds7 dd8 and dn4 get it...im not sure either....also the seating in the cars might nit be best for picky eater ds7...some many decisions...

IMHO, I think your children will like 50's Primetime Cafe much more then Sci-Fi. The food is fairly good and the atmoshpere is pretty cool. If your kids can take a little funny critisim, then will most likely find it a fun place to grab a homestyle meal...

I was going to book Prime Time based on the menu, but when dh and dd read about some of the fun things there, they said no way. :confused3
I tried to tell them I could let our server know we wanted a quiet meal but they still said no. So I booked at Sci Fi. I would think about how the other members of your party would (or wouldn't) enjoy the theme at Prime Time. My shy dd would be mortified if a lot of attention was drawn to her. She about died when Crush picked her out of the crowd at Turtle Talk!

The Sci-Fi is a definite for us for lunch each trip--1DD's 8&5-- the theme is very cool for them and us too!! I really didn't think they would GET the theme @ 50's since we weren't even born then!!! The sci fi is always interstting and we have never been disappointed with the food(not gormet but good)!! HAVE FUN!!! :sunny:

Well, I would say to save your money, but if I had to choose one, I'd say 50's prime time for lunch, and then grab a milkshake at Sci Fi at about 3 or 4 pm, and then hit Fantasmic. The theming at these restaurants is beyond compare in my opinion, but the food, well, isn't my favorite. I think that you'd be less inclined to relax and enjoy the theming for what it is at dinner when you might be ravenous from a whole day at the park. That's why I'd say to do lunch there instead.

Thanks for all your replies. I agree with some of the other posters that I don't think my kids will "get" 50's Prime Time because of their ages. I'm going to have DH look at the menus and give his input and decide.

I couldn't decided which to do this time either. (Did Sci-Fi in 2001 and 2004, but 50's was in 1990). So I booked them both! I remember having a fun time at 50's, but I was in early high school and old enough to "get" the theming. Both are fun, but for kids sitting in the cars and watching really, really bad BIG sceen movies is an experience you will not soon forget!
