50's Prime Time or Alfredos?

I originally made a ressie for Alfredo's. We have been to 50's Prime Time many times and LOVED it, but the food was never my favorite. Last year it was our first time at Alfredo's and it was just OK. This will be DBF's 1st time to WDW and he loves italian food so I booked Alfredo's, but I really wanted him to experience PT. Which one would you choose?

Does it have to be either of these two restaurants?

Good italian can be at Wolfgang Pucks, Spoodles and Portabello's. I also hear that Palio at Swan is excellent and quiet.

Well we are already going to Spoodles, and since we are going during free dining and already have too many ADR's, I did not want to do Pailio (as much as i really want to try it!!) We have all of our ADR's booked, and have 50's and Alfredo's in one night because I couldnt decide between the 2 for our one last ressie. I wanted to make a decision soon so I could cancel it ASAP and someone else can get it!

I think Mama Melrose is much better than Alfredo's.

Cool Cat I agree 101%. Mama's is, hands down, a better Italian choice.

We have tried both & like both. If I had to choose I would go with Alfredo's.

We are 50's PT folks. It's easy to find good Italian with a better atmosphere than Alfredo's. It's much harder to find a comparable to 50's PT. Have you tried different menu items? We had really tasty chicken last week. Dad's (no longer super ) sundae is my favorite Disney dessert. (and that includes the sacred Dole Whip)

50s over Alfredos. I think you answered your own question about Alfredos being just so-so. We feel the same way. If Italian is what it must be, then another vote for Mama Melrose. But if you think your friend will enjoy 50s, then go for it!
