The first time I went here was about 20 years ago and had Cousin Crystal as my server. We got the whole show. I was chastised for lying about washing my hands and sent to the bathroom to wash up; yelled at for not eating my vegetables, elbows on the table.. etc...

In other trips I've had servers that just weren't into it at all. Is there some magic request that can be made to ensure that I get the full on antics?

Make up some business Cards:

Mickey Mouse, MD

Love Complete Theme Immersion

Give one to the Hostess when you check in and leave one on the table that your server can't miss reading. Most CMs will be all over it!

We've eaten there 4 times, and every time we've gotten a real character. We also enjoy watching the action at the other tables.

We just walk in all smiles, and the waitstaff tend to respond positively and enthusiastically.

Unfortunately, the staff here has tended to "tone it down" because others, not even at the table they are serving, have been "put off" by the antics. So, you could want the "full monty" and are really appreciating the interaction but little Susie at the next table sees your son sent to the bathroom to wash his hands and now she's afraid she's going to be sent away too because she has no proof she washed her hands so she starts to cry and the parents are upset.

The chastising is part of the show and I have always enjoyed it. We have dined there every trip up until last May. In November 2014, we had a waiter that did not do anything different, I could have been a Shoney's and received the same treatment. So we did skip them one trip and use that as an opportunity to try something new. I am sure that I will return to 50"s at one of my future stays.

We were there in March (mom, aunt, cousin & myself) and we didn't get any of the antics. I was actually hoping we would. My mom and aunt are so goofy and I knew it would be a lot of fun. I was slightly disappointed, our server was so blah!

I've almost never had any server do anything at all there. Maybe mention they were cousin so-and-so but mainly nothing. Mind you, they were nice servers. Nothing out of the ordinary though! It seems toned down - maybe at WCC at the WL it's more animated?

We had an awesome server last month! Cousin Michael, I think. We were all grinning when we sat down, so I think that tipped him off. The tables on both sides of us weren't into it at all, which made him get even more into character with us!

Last time we were there i actually saw a woman demand a full refund of her meal because someone in her party was "force fed" their vegetables. Lol

The manager explained the theme of the restaurnt and how some of the wait staff really get into character but gave them a full refund anyway. She really didn't care. Was totally offended. I guess they need to be asking people if they want to be heckled before they sit down. Might reduce the number of refunds.

Love 50's Prime Time! Cousin Tara is the absolute best! She had a field day with our kids in June! My son set the table before we all had a chance to sit down! It was full show on the rest of the meal!

I draw the line at being "force fed" anything...but that being said, I want them to chastise our family. There would be no other point in going there if we didn't receive the full treatment.

We try to let the waiter know that we are "game" with signals like BIG grins, strong eye contact, and putting our elbows on the table right off the bat.

Last time, which is four years ago, my DD and I didn't want our greens (YUCK!) so we stuffed them in napkins and threw them away in the bathroom. We returned to the table to find DH tattling on us. The waitress turned the tables on him and he got in trouble for tattle taling while DD and I got off scott free! A customer at the table next to us was put in the corner. He was "talking back" and the whole restaurant was cracking up watching all of the nonsense going on around them.

I really hope that our waiter will play along with us...I just don't want anyone making me eat my greens...

We were there a few years ago and I whispered to the CM that my friend was a troublemaker so that tipped him off that we were "game". Lots of shennagins ensued - the CM gave funny nicknames to everyone, had my friend stand in the corner, shamed the kids, a lot of fun. But if you're not aware of the theme and just go in blindly I could see families not getting the "joke". A good CM should be able to tell if the table he's serving is in on the joke or not.

This is my vacation gosh darn it... I am not at all concerned about little Susie nor should anyone else. It's all about me me me!!!

Also, if a Disney Cast member makes you eat your veggies, then you do it. That woman who complained should have been taken out of the park and sent directly to MCO and sent home.

That being said.. I think just to be safe, I'm going to start playing along before they get a chance. As soon as Cousin whoever comes to the table, I'll just get all excited to see them again take some pictures. I'm getting the full experience even if I have to create it for myself!

Then you might ask when being asked for your order what you can substitute for the green beans (or whatever). Give yourself a name like Anti Green Bean Alice but All Other Sides OK. Then just order another side. But - be prepared to eat it all :)

We just refused to open our mouths. Didn't eat an extra bite. ;)

That is awesome!!!

I sub green beans for greens every time - no problem. Plus they taste pretty good and I eat them first to be safe.
