50's Prime Time Cafe...

Our last visit we ate at Sci-fi in hollywood studios but this time around we are trying 50'S prime time cafe. Any thoughts??

We love 50sPTC! I really like the food and we always get a funny waitress. This year we are trying SciFi for the first time. Did you enjoy it there?

What do you mean by "buffet style"? I mean, I know what a buffet is, but I never knew that there was a time 50s changed to a buffet and I have been there several times. You have peaked my curiosity.

Me too!

We always go to Prime Time! Love the Pot Roast....very sad they took away the fried Brie though.

We did Sci-Fi a couple of weeks ago and LOVED it, but next year we have 50's Prime Time on our list for my mom! I think she would love it! Being a '52 vintage herself!

We really enjoyed sci-fi. The food was great and it was really a neat atmosphere. My ds (4) really liked sitting in the old cars and watching the old movies.

It has never been changed to a buffet, unless it was in some strange alternate universe. I live near WDW and we eat there regularly, so believe me I would know (and be complaining LOUDLY) if that ever happened.

I was thinking the PP must have been mistaken, but was looking for clarification. I knew I had never heard of 50s being a buffet. :confused3

Now, I'm wondering what restaurant he has been to repeatedly, but keeps mistaking for 50s. :rotfl:

It get an 'eh' from me.

We have eaten there several times over the past 6 or 7 years and always had a good experience. I took a 1st time WDW guest there two weeks ago and was sorely disappointed.

The food was still good and plentiful but there was no interaction really. I heard one or two waiters bantering but it was very low key. My waitress didn't really do much at all.

Disappointing, really.

The food is tasty (still love their fried chicken!) but don't go in with an expectation for a playful waiter or you'll just be disappointed if you don't get one.

Here is my family and I (3 years ago) at Prime Time, with our most favorite server, "Uncle Mark". We request him every single year, he's a total blast and really makes our trips. Has anyone else had him?

My family was there about 3 weeks ago, and we loved it! We ordered the fried chicken, post roast, PB&J milkshake (wonderful), and DD had the mac'n cheese and chicken noodle soup. She ate it all and is a very pickey eater. I wasn't sure what was going on with our server at first (seemed rude)...then I finally caught on that she was in "character".
Give it a try!

We've had Mark, too! He called himself "Cousin Mark" when we had him for our first trip to 50s in '05. He was great!

We had such a fun time there in September! The food was great and although our server was very busy and not too much into the whole charactor thing, the manager saw that we were having a good ol' time and came over and made my DP stand up against the wall with a sugar packet held by her nose for eating off our oldest son's plate! (She was tasting something and he said she was eating his veggies for him) It was hilarious. We would have enjoyed it anyway, it was a great break and great food.

This is a must for our first evening meal every year.
The CMs are great at determining what level of "fun" the customers are up to, and the food is really good.
I always get the chocolate milk! it's so rich and creamy, i can't resist.
