50s Prime Time Cafe, your experiences? ...

I've eaten at 50's four times during the past year. My experience on service has been hit-and-miss really. Sometimes our servers were really into the theme, and other times, my party got very little of the 'stich.'

'Cousin Topher' is certainly missed. You can find him at California Grill, and it's worth asking for him as your server in my opinion.

Uncle Bob (from China?) is now my favorite server at 50's. His approach is a very dry wit. He's great!

Order the fried chicken. It's fantastic!

We eat here everytime we go to WDW because it is my sister's favorite restaurant. This year we had a BLAST! Our server was so into it and she even had my dad laughing the entire meal. My dad tried to tell her at the beginning of the meal that my sister doesn't eat her vegtables and the server did a whole tattletale bit and then when my sister really didn't eat her vegetables the server tried to feed her using the airplane method!!!

But as far as the salt complaint from earlier...I had green beans with my meal and they were SO salty, I tried to eat them all as to not get yelled at but the salt was unbearable.

So I guess it really does depend on when you go and who you get because we have never had a waitress play with us as much as this past one did. (Only slight complaint...I think they made the desserts smaller because my sister and I always share the s'mores and this time it seemed like there wasn't enough to really share...or maybe we were just being little piggies!!)

We eat at the 50's PTC every time we go to WDW...but I agree with the other posters that it can be hit or miss depending on how into it your waiter is. I've noticed that sometimes they tend to play along more if you're in a larger group/family. Our best time was with my mom, sister, DH, and myself and a great waiter named Anas (I apologize if I spelled his name wrong...he was hysterical and pointed out that the emphasis is on the first part of his name, not the last ) When my mom refused to eat her green beans he pulled her chair over into the corner and had her sing "I'm a Little Teapot" -- she had tears rolling down her cheeks she was laughing so hard.

I've never had a bad meal there, even if the wait staff was kind of a letdown the food was always good (IMO). Hope you enjoy your visit!

I've been many times and never had a bad server or meal. I almost always get the pot roast, but have had the meatloaf and once stole a piece of my exgf's chicken. It's all good. The servers in my experience have gotten more into it the last few years. The onion rings are good enough to get oop when on ddp.

I like the food fine. I miss the fried cheese though.

I eat at the bar now, no fun servers - no servers at all - just the bartenders to fix me a mai tai.

Have eaten there with Anas as the server before, he's a riot.

I have heard they did make the desserts smaller - they used to be meant for sharing, but with the introduction of the DDP and everyone ordering their own dessert, they didn't need to have them designed for sharing anymore.

The 50's Prime Time Cafe is our favorite. The food is homey, tasty and even the fussiest diner can find something. We have eaten there every trip for the last 6 years and have never been disappointed. We have found that if you interact with the wait staff they really ham it up and it's fun for eveyone. Sarcasm is running rampant in this place. The Sci-Fi diner is just a dark burger joint to me and after trying it once we have not gone back.

We love it we go there every trip. The kids loved there dessert and chicken nuggets me and hubby always get chicken which is very good and desserts are wonderful!! I love the smores!! The first time we went my husband got embarrassed b/c he didn't eat his greens to the waitress spoon fed them to him and made everyone around make the airplane noise (his face was soo red) but we love it.
