50pt AKV Add-on -- Why am I being charged so much?

Please help me.

1) I just got the paperwork yesterday for an add-on of 50 pts for AKV at $10 off per point. I see that the incentives today are for $13 off per point, so I called my guide to request new paperwork with the $13 off per point. I assume this is easy to do since I haven't signed anything yet.

2) There is a $500 "Developer Credit". I don't know what this is for. My guide told me I could get 50 pts from 2008 but he never said I had to PAY for them.

Also, isn't a Credit supposed to SUBTRACT? This $500 charge is added to my bill.

Finally,

3) There is a settlement charge of $117.70. I assume this is for closing costs. I thought existing members do not have to pay closing costs -- that this is one of the reasons to go directly through Disney.

Please help!! I left 2 messages for my guide today but haven't heard back from him. Is he screwing with me??

I would call Quality Assurance. Their phone number is all over the paperwork that you got. They are very good at explaining what all the numbers mean, better than your guide would be, probably. And if there's a mistake, they are the ones to fix it. (Though every time I've called with what I thought was a mistake, it was actually me misunderstanding something. But they are very nice about answering all my questions.)

(My guess is actually that you are reading the statement backwards, and are interpreting their side as your side. The $500 Developer credit would be your $10/point off, and the closing costs still exist, but they pay them.)

I just looked at my BLT add on contract and I have the same thing. The price that is shows I paid is the full price. Next to it says "includes developer credit of ..." They are just giving me , the buyer, the credit toward the price.

It also lists settlement charges but those are on the seller's side of the column.

As PP said, contact QA about it, but you will find that things are probably correct.

I'm still confused by the $500 since it shows as $5600 Gross Amount Due from Buyer. It should only be $5100 (and $4950 once I get the new incentive).

Disney always lists the full price in the documents, then they give you a credit to reduce the total due down to the correct price including your incentives or discounts.

I have asked why before but was never given a straight answer. I assume that it is for tax or financial reasons to benefit Disney.

And, when the record the purchase price with Orange County, it is the full amount.

Check with QA to be sure how much you owe. They often do the discounts as a "gift card," which you then have to sign back over to them as payment. So it would be part of your "gross payment," but you're not really paying the $.

Wow, we just added on 50pts last month -- didn't expect the incentive for small add-ons to improve! I Just called my guide to see whether we might be able to redo our paperwork under the new deal (or whether too much time has passed), but he's away for the week.

Is there a central DVC number I can call? EDIT: called, and we closed on May 18th - so missed it by a month.

Oh well, at least we got 2008 points!

For AKV 50-99 pts add-on, it is a $13/pt discount. I'm not sure of the other discounts.
