Can a family of 3 eat at Disney for $500??? I am not a bit eater by any stretch of the means, maybe a little bit at breakfast and dinner. DH doesn't eat breakfast, might grab something small at lunch and then eats dinner. DS10 eats breakfast, lunch and dinner (will be doing kids meals at all). We only have ADR's at Sci-Fi for lunch one day and Dinner at WCC another day. We are staying at POP and would like to do RFC one other day. We aren't really big into all the expensive resteraunts. I have no issues with doing counter services and getting kids meals at dinner.

We plan on bringing a lot of snacks with us from home to bring into the parks to munch on during the day should we get hungry. The big thing will be drinks such as water etc.. We also would like to use the Planet Hollywood discount cards (if they are still included in the package deal)

Is it possible for us to make it though a whole week at Disney with only $500 budgeted for food????

I guess it all depends on what you order. To save some cash, have you considered placing an order through Garden Grocer and having some basic items delivered to your room? Maybe get a fridge at POP and have some meals in your room. Or doing the Disney Dining Plan. For under $40 per person, you'll have 2 meals and 1 snack covered.

BTW we did find the portions large in the event you wanted to share something.

Let me do the math in my head - that's around $70 per day. That doesn't seem like a lot for three people, but if you eat breakfast in the room and split some meals, it might be doable. You'd probably need to stick to mostly CS restaurants.

I'd recommend checking out some of the menus online (allearsnet has pretty current ones) to get an idea of what things cost. That way, you can budget appropriately.

That's what i have started doing :) The good thing is we are leaving the hotel on our last day at 5am so we'll just eat the snacks at the airport. We are hoping that we will be able to save so much a week between now and when we leave (April 26th) that will enable us to have that much more for food. usin gthe allearsnet menus has been a huge help to give us an idea of what we can and can't do. Luckily our DS10 has NO idea we are even going so my DH and i can have a good plan on what we are going ot do for food. the DDP is out of the question because it's way too expensive, but using the menus is a great idea.

Thanks for the suggestion :thumbsup2

You can do it if you eat a lot of junk. When I say junk, I mean burgers, dogs, fries, etc.

Perhaps you can consider the local grocer. That might be the better way to go. :)
