I have been wondering if anyone else is on a quest to accumulate bling for each of the states doing events of any length.

Right now I'm going for the half marathons in half the states goal. Currently I have completed CA, FL, IA, IL, OH, PA, TN, WA

I am registered for IN, LA, MN

Considering for 2010 MI, NY, NC not sure but OK maybe.

2011 I definitely want to do AZ

I'm in!! Sixteen states on my way to twenty-five.

See my signature for the list!!

I'm tracking my adventures on a cool website www.half2run.com There is a link to search for races by state or by month. Very helpful.

Coming up - Manchester NH on Nov 1st, Las Vegas on Dec 6th, and Kiawah Island SC on Dec 12th. All as part of my Goofy training.

After the first of the year - New Orleans on Feb 28th (DH's b-day), OKC on Apr 25th, and Minneapolis on June 6th.

We liked the Indy Festival 500 race so well that we are repeating a state on May 8th.

I'm doing the Half2run also, half the marathon in half the states. So far I have 6 done (TN, OH, CA, FL, PA, VA) and am signed up for two more next year (IN, DC if that counts).

I'm a half2run completer; going on to run all 50 states & DC running primarily 1/2's. I picked up states 38 & 39 in Hartford & Boston earlier this month. My goal is to complete my 50th state on my 50th birthday.

Count me in! I'm going for 50 1/2's in 50 states.

So far I've completed FL, CA, PA, AZ and HI.
For 2010 I'll be repeating some states (FL, CA) but also adding IN and possibly VA. Looking to add a couple more for 2010, but don't know where yet.

I would like to go to NO in Feb., but already committed to a local event (more for crosstraining). I'll be doing the Wawa Stair Climb. It's 53 flights (or 1019 steps).

I also found a website www.halfmarathonclub.com They have the 50 1/2's challenge (one in each state), but they also have the 100 1/2 marathons anywhere challenge. I like that, since it seems many of the events I want to go to are in either CA or FL. So if you don't want to travel far, you can still try to reach that goal by doing many half marathons close to home.
If I count the duplicate state races then so far I've completed 8 half marathons.

Terri - I hear you about repeating states, between WDW in FL, DL in CA, and my home state IL I have a lot of repeats. And DH and I liked Indy so much we are repeating it in 2010 with a bunch of our WISHer friends.

This quest has sure taken me to a lot of places I never would have thought to visit, and sad to say - but my training kind of goes down hill if I don't have event scheduled, so my solution - schedule a race!!

Um, yeah. 50/50 marathons.

Two states so far. Hawaii and Florida, nothing in between :lmao:.

After 2010, I will branch out and start doing other states. If there's room on your floor, I'd appreciate a place to rest my feet. LOL. Some time back I posted something on Facebook, and got several offers for housing from former classmates, friends, and family.

Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is on top of the list, in memory of Captain Randolph A. Guzman, U.S.M.C. (Connie/Steff, Susie, and another friend Bob have sent me pictures of Randy's banner).

I'll let you know when I'm planning to be in a city near you.

I'm trying to do the "50 plus DC" marathon route. So far, I have crossed of IL, WI, IN, OH and FL. In 2010, I should be marking off MI (Zoom Yah Yah in Jan), NM (Bataan Memorial in March, and some Michigan marathon (haven't decided which). I'll probably repeat the Illinois Marathon in May, but it won't count.

I want to cross off all 51 before my 50th birthday, but I have well over a decade to go, so I'm still on track.

I'm in! I had such a wonderful experience doing my first half at DL in 2006, that I told my DH I wanted to do a half a month. He thought I was nuts. Then, I mentioned about doing the 50 states, and he said we'd be in our 80's trying to finish up. So, I found the half2run site where the goal was 25 states. Unfortunately, I got sidelined for a year with an injury, so Pat got far ahead of me!! :lmao: But I'm back on track now!!

10 halfs done (CA, FL, IL, PA, TX, NV, TN, DE, WA, IA) with AL, SC to finish up this year. Registered for LA, GA, OK, and IN in 2010 with possibly MN and OH added in. It IS an adventure!!

geaux_half, where did you get that cool state display? I'm on half2run..have I missed something?

:goodvibes Anne

Anne, I started with this "map maker" utility. Once I got beyond the 6 default colors, I now just edit one of the versions that I saved and add new colors.

I sure hope you all consider Arkansas (Little Rock full/half) someday. I'd love to see more WISHers at this great event!!!! 10th anniversary is 3 years away. I'm thinking about doing the marathon then. :scared1:

As for me, I might sign up for the half2run challenge. I've only participated in 8 states so far. I need to do a lot more to catch up with you guys. ;)

That is how I am. I either have some races scheduled or I'm working on finding one to schedule.

I have looked at that run. I want the huge medal, but if I want it to count for half2run I have to do the half instead of the full and get the smaller medal. Quite the vicious circle.

Oh, that is a dilemma:lmao: You might just have to go to Little Rock twice, once for the full, and once for the half.

Anne and I are doing the Kiawah half in December, while Wendy is doing the full. She suggested we might want to do the full too since we are preparing for Goofy - but nooooo, we couldn't do that because we need a half in SC. So Anne and I are going to do the half and then backtrack a ways (the course is a loop) and then come back in with Wendy (that is if all goes well!).

Since I started on this adventure I don't think I've taken a trip that did not include a race (even a business trip)

Susie - LR is definitely on my list, probably 2011.

I'm right with you. Of course most of my trips are planned for a run (Niagara, the Rock and Rolls, Marathon weekend) so it isn't hard. When we went down for the Podcast cruise I made sure to find a race the day before so that I could get one in. I don't feel like the trip is complete unless I find at least a 5K to do while I'm there.

When I went to Italy for that cycling trip I found out there was a 5K in Florence the day we were leaving. Had I known ahead of time I would have made sure to do it. I was there with the same person I usually travel to races with so I know it wouldn't have been hard to sell. We found out when we went to the hotel to meet the cycling group and saw everyone running by with numbers.

One of our friends is going to be working in Germany for a couple of years and we have already tried to figure out which race we are going to try and do in Germany or France (she is by the border) if we can swing a trip over.

I am in. It may take me quite a while, but that is OK. I'm not about speed anyhow.

I'm working on 50 States + D.C. and I'll make it if I live long enough.:rotfl: So far I have Florida, D.C., Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Nevada and Hawaii will be checked off on December 6th and 13th. I might plan for Mardi Gras in February, but it is scheduled for the same day as the final Gasparilla Marathon.

Chester

I'd like to do 50 in 50 + DC eventually. So far I've run marathons in California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida and DC. I'm going to pick up Virginia in a few weeks.
