As you can see by my counter we leave Sun. My Son twisted his ankle and this will be 2 1/2 days since he has walked on it. I have talked to his doctor and he told me to bring him in today if he doesn't improve. Well he is out of the office today and the other doctor is kinda crazy. We have an appt. tommorrow with his doctor and I think he will need an x-ray. It is not swollen. Can it be broken? He is just a little cranky and he only complains when he tries to put weight on it. I was not panicing until this morning. Just a little vent. Thanks for listening
Tara

i broke my leg when i was 6 and i am 38 now and i still remember the pain! i dont think it is broken if he is just a little cranky i would get the x-ray asap though just incase of a small fracture the sooner you get the x-ray the sooner something can be done for him and if its nothiing you will feel better knowing! :wave2:

Thanks Sheri,
I think I am getting cabin fever. We have been in the hose for 3 days now. It is very icy here so all he needs me to do is slip and drop him. I need to get my head straight and realize that this is not the end of the world. I am sure that we will have a good time. It is just that I don't know anything for sure and it is driving me crazy.

Never hurts to get it checked. If it makes you panic less...my son just fractured his ankle Sunday night. Hes casted now. His ankle was HUGE, purple, along with his foot and even his leg was red and blotchy. SO chances are its just a good twist. :) good luck

hi,

even if it is "just a sprain", make sure the doctore shows you how to acewrap it to give good support, gives you a schedule of putting ice on it (you used to be able to get ice from the first aid stations) - get some right before you go into a show!!! and you bring proper medication to reduce pain and swelling,,,

if it is broken, and you get a cast,,,ask if they can either put a waterproof linig in it, OR ask where you can get a cast cover, so you can bathe him easier and also so you could go in the pool!!!

rent or bring a stroller, cause even if he makes a quick recovery, you may want him to ride in a stroller for longer distances to help promote healing...

sending prayers and pixie dust your way!!! :earsboy:

Wendy-
Thank you for the good advice. I didn't know that they had a waterproof lining for casts.
Tara

Even if it is not broken tyou will still need to "baby" it and him. The standard treatment for sprains and strains is R.I.C.E. Rest Ice Compression Elevation. Keep him off his feet, ice it, ace it and keep it up on some pillows. Ice is 20mins on 20 mins off so he doesnt get frost bite.

Actually, sprains can hurt a lot more than breaks! I hope he feels okay by the trip.

Luckily he's not too old for a stroller so he can keep some weight off of it.

Good luck!

Shar

My dd has travelled to Disney with ankle casts many times. The waterproof lining was a great suggestion, you should definitely look into it.

DD had the boot type cast so she could take it off at night and off to go in the pool to cool off (couldn't run around and such, but she was still in the pool).

If he still can't put his weight on it then he'll probably need some kind of wrapping or cast. Just take it easy and rest every now and then. It won't ruin your trip so don't worry about that.

Have fun!

Nancy

Taralink, I just realized you're in Burlington. Too funny, you're literally the next town over from me.

Have a great trip!!

Nancy

Sorry about the typo in your name, it should of said Taratink!

We just got an x-ray and it is not broken. The doctor told our son (Tyler) that it would be ok to try to walk on it. He took a few steps today! Yeahhhh! I know that it would not have been the end of the world but I am so relieved. Thank you all for your ideas and well wishes.

Nancy- I have noticed a lot of people on these boards live in this area. This weather is getting crazy. I am so happy to be visiting Mickey's house on Sun.

I just had to check back on this thread. I am so happy that he got seen and that the result was so good! :teeth:
NOW, go, enjoy, wear lime green, and Patriots gear. We will see you there! We will also be there when you are it seems we may even be on the same flight, are you going out SONG? My husband (6'4") and I will be the rabid Pats fans with a 3yo DD, MIL and SIL. Now here's to escaping this crappy weather :sunny: , and hoping we get snowed in on the other end so we can see Tom Brady in the parade on Monday!!!!! (we're over in Reading, a stone's throw from you too, and awfully close to Wilmington!) :crowded: :rotfl2:

Patsfan7- were are flying JetBlue. We saw Tom Brady last year at the MK parade. He smile and waved at my 2 year old daughter. It was very exciting. We won't see him in the parade this year because we will be home by then. I am sure that he will be there though. :teeth: Enjoy your trip!
Tara :wizard: Go Pats!

Hurray!!! Glad to hear that he is okay!!!! sometimes its the fear of pain that keeps kids from doing stuff....give him lots of pool time, and dont foget to bring along some tylenol or something if it starts to ache!!!

Go EAGLES!!! :bounce:
