My som is invited to a birthday party for a girl in his preschool class and I need help with what to get her. The invite has Littlest Pet Shop on it, but I am afraid that is what everyone else is going to get her. Her whole class was invited so there will be a lot of kids. What do little girls likeat that age? I don't know the Mom at all to ask her and I would feel weird about it. Any thoughts please. They have three other kids so I am sure they have a lot of the games out already.

Since you are right that everyone will probably get her Littlest Pet shop toys I'd say a Littlest Pet Shop Bag which can hold the dolls. Any time I get an invitation like that (Polly Pockets, Barbie ect) I always go for a bag in that theme that can hold the toys and not only do the kids love them, but I am always the only one to get them one. I think Wal-mart & Toys-r-us carry them for around $10.

What about:

A little gardening set
Children's baking set
Playmobil set
A veterinarian kit

strawberry shortcake
Fancy Nancy
My Little Pony
Littlest pet shop accessories

Or ask when you RSVP. Do you know another mom in the class that has a girl? Maybe she can help.

Well, my dd will be 5 in a couple of weeks and things she's asking for:

- The new Barbie Mermaid dvd and of course the Barbie that goes with it.
- Webkinz
- Hannah Montana: Miley Says Goodbye DVD

My dd5 is into:

My Little Pony
Princess everything
"toy" cameras
outdoor play stuff (like jump ropes/chalk, etc)
art supplies

The thing she liked best were these giant sticker paper dolls. She just loved them and we ended up buying a set for the next birthday we went to (another classmate turning 5).

This is what she loved. These Alex Art Kits are a nice quality....

How about Polly Pockets? Those are still very popular in my house and my girls are 6, 8 and 10.:goodvibes Or anything Barbie, especially the new mermaid Barbie like someone above suggested.:thumbsup2 Dress up is always fun too, you could add in some fake jewelry too or lip gloss. And this next suggestion might sound crazy but my DD got a b-day gift of gum from my mom that she absolutely loved! It was like 5 packs of different flavors and boy, she was so excited about it!:goodvibes

My baby cousin who just turned 5 is all about art supplies. She LOVES those huge workbook pads that come with crayons, scissors, markers, etc. I found some at Target awhile back and she went nuts for them. It's basically a huge coloring book that has activity pages and such. She also loves Polly Pockets, Hair clips, gardening tools, and anything to do with cooking. She really like to help out in the kitchen with making cookies and cakes! :thumbsup2

LPS triplets are a newer product so you could try that. You could do barbie clothes or a barbie (my dd just got 3 at her party). Any type of art products. She also has these princesses that are like paper dolls, but they are magnetic. They come with glitter and stickers so you can decorate the dresses and purses. She also got the LPS decorate pet. It is a lot bigger than a regular lps and comes with glitter and different types of stickers to create your own. It runs about $12 and I have seen them at walmart. My DD just turned 5 last month.

I know you said you'd feel weird asking the mom, but I think it'd be a great ice breaker to get to know her a little better. (Then again, I am on the shy/reserved side when it comes to talking to people I don't know, so I am always grateful when I have an "excuse" to start up a conversation. Otherwise, I'll wait for them to speak to me. Lame, I know.) When you RSVP, you could just mention that you were wondering what are some ideas of things she'd like since it is your son picking the gift. :confused3

With that being said, our 5-year-old really does enjoy her Littlest Pet Shop as do her classmates (one day, her friend showed up on our doorstep with a suitcase full of "pet shop" stuff that she and her younger sister had drug through the snow so they could play--didn't have the heart to turn them away even though we were leaving for errands in a half hour.) I like the carrying case idea and the new triplets--very cute.

But since you were looking for other ideas, our daughter (who is a tomboy but still) likes:
My Little Pony
Outdoor Stuff--sidewalk chalk, bubbles (wants those 3-D, glasses ones :confused3), jump rope, bouncy ball, gardening stuff
Toy Animals--Schleich (?) brand
Build-a-Bear
Puzzles and Books
Arts and Crafts
Lip Gloss (may or may not be okay with the mom) and nail polish

Webkinz, zhu zhu pets, backpack/purse, crafts...paint your own tea set is good, club penguin stuff, any princess stuff, polly pockets

When you RSVP you could always ask mom if there is anything special she would like.

I would probably go with a bag of goodies to get ready for spring--Sidewalk chalk, bubbles, outdoor games, sunglasses.

My DD just turned 5 and she is into Barbie's, art projects, Thomas the Train, movies, dress up, tea parties, books, hair things and nail polish...

What about oneof the giant coloring pads with a box of crayons or water color paints?
Books
Barbies
Princess dolls
Art supplies
Memory game
Gardening Supplies; water can, seeds, shovel, flower pot
sidewalk chalk, bubbles,

I used to fill up a shoe box sized plastic tote of various art stuff, a package of construction paper, glue sticks, child's scissors, crayons, etc. They were always a huge hit (and easy to clean up when done).

When our kids were that age they LOVED Beanie Babies. They aren't as popular now so it might be a fun gift.

Since summer is coming up, maybe some outdoor play things.

Perhaps a big tub of sidewalk chalk and a book about assorted games and activities to do with chalk.

Art and craft kits may be a good idea. Maybe get a some pool toys for summer time.

When the girls I used to nanny for were each 5 yrs old they enjoyed Barbies and Polly Pockets. One year I had got them several different hand puppets to go along with a book. They liked that as we would hang up a sheet to make a little theatre.
