HI I am new here :) my husband and I are surprising our 3 children with a trip to Disneyland. We will be staing at the Disneyland Hotel. I was wondering how the standard room can accomodate 2 adults and 5 children? When we booked the trip this room was given to us automatically. Will we run into trouble?

I think you have a typo so I want to be clear - is it 2 adults and 3 children, or 2 adults and 5 children? 7 total wouldn't be allowed, but I think you meant to say 5 total, which is the current max allowed in a standard room. You'll get two beds and the pullout couch. It will be cramped but it's allowed.

Oh yes, that was a typo! 2 adults and 3 children. Thanks so much for your answer! the children won't know that we are going until we are at the airport. I am so exited!!!!!

You'll get a room with 2 queens and a day bed/pull out. Its PLENTY of room. We even had room for a play pen set up without issue.

Where are you flying from? Is it your first time in DL?

We always have the 5 of us in a standard room and have never had a problem with it. At DLH, the rooms are pretty spacious. Often, we don't even use the daybed; 2 queen beds is enough for us.

I stayed at the DLH last August with 2 friends. I used the daybed, it was very comfortable. It pulls out to twin size.

I just wanted to mention last time we stayed at DLH which was March 2010 we had 5 people and only got a room with 2 queens no sofa/daybed. This may be standard now with the refurb but pre refurb that room was not a guarantee. I had asked for it when making reservations but again they could not accommodate me upon check in. It worked out OK as my daughter was 2 and just slept in bed with my hubby and I. I would make sure you do place a request for the daybed/sofa. I know it's standard at PPH but was not at DLH. Again may be now with refurb but just in case I would make sure it's noted on your reservation. Have a great time!!

This was probably because 1) availability due to spring break and/or 2) a 2 yr old is considered an infant for Disney purposes and would sleep in a play pen. Personally my 2 yr old is too big for a play pen, but that may be how they determined priority for the rooms with day beds (age of youngest 5th guest or # of adults). I'm not sure if there are more daybed rooms after refurb.

The vast majority of the rooms at DLH--but not all--have 2 queens and a daybed. It's very very likely you will get one but not guaranteed. There are some odd rooms at DLH including a few really tiny ones and some extra large. Most of the odd rooms are in the lobby tower and the old Bonita/Wonder tower. Can't remember it's current name.
