I purchased 4 day park hopper tickets. Right now I have 6 nights we are looking to stay based on our flights as they currently are, and planning one down day at the hotel to do really nothing maybe Downtown Disney. We aren't doing anything at all except the parks and will not have a car. I feel like I'll be bored with the extra day and just want to go long enough for the parks (and tend like shorter stays anywhere I go), but DH wants to maximize our spring break week and likes long stays anywhere we go. So we are opposite with travel on that aspect. Thoughts on the right amount of days to spend in the area, if only doing the parks, planning to stay on-site either DLH or GC, and doing nothing else in the area except parks/Downtown Disney? The 4 day park hoppers are a given already purchased.

We had the same dilemma and went with 6 nights. I like being able to save the parks for non-travel days. DTD is nice and you can easily spend a few hours there. If you are staying on property you'll have the pools and restaurants to go to. You also may have more of a relaxing time since you can sleep in on your travel days if the flight times work out for that.

If flights and time budget well for 6. Do the 6. Look over the parks schedule, depending on your trip dates, for shortened hours or special events. Try to break up the park days to have at least one full park day before leaving. DTD and enjoying the resort amenities can be a great relaxing part of a vacation that many rush too much to enjoy.

During our two on-site stays I wished that I had built in time for just hanging at the hotel, Are you going when it is warm enough to swim? I love the hot tub at GCH. I'd probably spend the down day having breakfast at the opposite resort, dining in either DTD or Napa Rose in GCH, hitting the pool in the afternoon. You could also check out the Tenaya Spa at GCH if you enjoy that kind of thing. They have spa services (a foot massage sounds appealing to me) and also exercise classes. I would have done the morning walk in DCA if had been offered on one of our non-park days.
